So I ordered a replica World Heavyweight Championship (2010 4mm version) off Ebay. Used, but in near mind condition apparently. Quite a steal at $250 and $45 shipping.
However, the seller is a bit new at this, and it appears he used the Global Shipping Program wrongly. I am in Alberta, Canada, he is in Arizona. The package should be on its way to Kentucky for import and customs, but it has gone from Arizona, to California, and is now in Washington State. So it would appear (unless I'm in error) that the package is on its way straight to me. I don't have a problem really, except that I've already paid $17 import fees and am fearing that I'll have to pay more customs fees at the door.
If I'm right that the package is on its way straight to me without being routed through Kentucky, then I shouldn't be paying that $17 at all. I also fear that the customs fee I'd be charged by Canada Post will be much higher than $17.
What do I do?

Didn't Enay change their policy where the seller ships all exports to their hubs and ebay handles the shipping from there?

Didn't Enay change their policy where the seller ships all exports to their hubs and ebay handles the shipping from there? Yes, that is what was supposed to have happened here. All my packages when used with this program go through Kentucky. I'm not sure if there's a hub for this in Washington State or not. However, it seems the seller did not ship the package properly. I think he put my own address on it, instead of the Ebay Kentucky address. He was confused and had to ask what was up with me having two shipping addresses, one in Alberta, and the other in Kentucky. I couldn't tell him much since it seemed he had already shipped at that point, and I don't totally know how the Global Shipping Program works, either. So since the package has gone from Arizona, to California, to Washington State, it would seem that it's moving straight to me and not to the Kentucky Hub. This means the package has to go through Canadian customs, and since it's such an expensive item, I'm betting customs fees will be owed on it. The $17 I paid for the Ebay program will go towards nothing, since the package will never be in Ebay's hands. But that's still money out of my pocket. I might end up getting charged twice for Customs/Import - $17 by Ebay, and whatever the price is that Canadian customs charges.

Just contact ebay and let them know what "may" be happening. They'll tell you to contact them after you received your item and if you do get charged any custom fee's keep that documented to show them. They may get Paypal to refund your $17. Good luck.

That's the beauty of ebay being a buyer's paradise. You may have to front the money, but ebay will surely reimburse you. Stuff like this though is why i refuse to ship internationally. What a headache.

What a headache. I don't use the Global Shipping Program, but I've shipped probably a near 100 things internationally from Canada to USA (or elsewhere) with little problem. Biggest issue I've had was being too stupid to charge proper amounts for shipping overseas, and then having to pay loads of cash myself for shipping.

I used to just estimate weights - and I would underestimate the weight of the shipping box and packaging. Now I weight EVERYTHING before hand, in the box I plan to ship it in.

I hate when eBay sellers ship stuff for $100 when you paid $0.99 for it

Package was shipped a week ago and looks like it is FINALLY about to reach the Global Shipping Center in Kentucky.
How stupid.... what was the point of it going all the way to Washington State where it where it was so close to me? Talk about back tracking.
Global Shipping Program sucks. Period.

As asinine as it sounds, that happens a lot even without the global shipping program. USPS has some really weird routing sometimes. I live in Florida and several times have sent things to bordering states, even within my own at times, only to see the tracking reveal that said packages would often head all the way over to Chicago or even California before coming back across the country and being delivered. Don't know why. Seems kinda ridiculous to me, but it seems to happen rather often.

Have you received the package yet? Yep, just got it (see my Big Gold Belt thread)! Seller did not use the Program wrongly, for some reason the package was just playing musical chairs around the US border. Everything is fine. But it took forever - nearly 3 weeks! Also the package arrived badly damaged, luckily the belt didn't have a scratch.
