Hey guys,
Long story short, years ago I bought this tape at a local video shop which was going under at the time but never realized how rare and valuable it was until minutes ago.
I had no idea it was so rare and valuable. I'm just stunned.
I was watching YouTube videos of people's collections and this guy said it was the rarest wrestling tape period.
Does anyone else happen to own this rare tape as well??

I don't own it, but I do remember hearing years ago that the WCW Bash At The Beach 2000 show was mega rare.
I believe there are a lot of WCW PPVs during that time frame that are considered rare and thus go for big money. Especially the last few PPVs. Since I don't believe a lot were made and distributed.
The thing is, having a rare VHS wrestling tape that goes for big money is cool and all if you collect wrestling VHS tapes, but if you ever decide to sell it, it can be frustrating because it may have a hard time selling if the price is too high - even though you have seen it sell for that price or even much higher.
The WWE Network has definitely caused certain prices to drop on things. But maybe because its a WCW VHS tape, it would still be sought after.

I seriously doubt I would ever sell or part with any of my old wrestling tapes. They can be rare and worth a lot, but I'd never sell them.

I had the copy I made during the PPV, but all my old WCW and WWE PPV tapes were ruined in storage years ago.

WCW was never that great at promoting their products in the first place. By 2000, they were probably giving up on videos. The local video stores would generally only have one or two NWA/WCW VHS tapes compared to 50-100 of WWFs. The little promotion of tapes they did was a handful of merchandise catalogs (again, compared to multiple for WWF). They had a few the first wave of WCW Magazine but I never saw another ad for VHS until late 1997 and that was only advertising past VHS tapes (1995-1996 face Hogan era). Considering how much companies charged for VHS tapes back in the day, it's nice some of the tapes still hold value.

Like World War 3 and Starrcade had the 1996 year on them when they were the 1995 ones.

I always noticed that too, when I was younger I really wanted all of WCW 2000 on VHS but a lot of them were expensive and BATB took the cake. Same with WCW 1997, almost every VHS is still in the 100s.

I remember trying to find certain years only to be confused and the video store clerks (who didn't know wrestling were even more confused). WWF did the same thing but only with the 1st Survivor Series as far as I know which was labeled 1988 copyright. Multiple times I would call video stores asking for 1988 Survivor Series only to find out it was 1st annual. I guess I should've caught on...

I had 1998 Uncensored and Spring Stampede when I was kid, unfortunately I think they're out of commission.
RIP.

I wonder if that happened because said tapes weren't released until that following year. Like yes, WWIII and Starrcade took place in 1995, but by the time the VHS tape of them came out it was 1996. So maybe the distributors got mixed up that way and put down the wrong year. Only WCW could manage that! haha

The incorrect dating of VHS tapes is a small reason I'm glad WWF "won" the war. If you can't get the dating correct on video labeling, you shouldn't be trusted to handle a major wrestling company. And if it were just a lower level VHS company employee, someone in WCW upper management could've kept better track. There was never a time we weren't aware of a WWF VHS release. They were in your face about marketing their products.
