WWE really needs to cut down the number of house shows. Yeah, it makes them some more money, but they are drawing lower and lower numbers, most of the injuries in the past year have occurred on them, and the talent don't like doing them (for the most part). Did anyone see the table for 3 horsemen edition from a few weeks ago? Arn Anderson talks about how today's wrestlers have too much off time and that their bodies never really get in "ring shape" and that's where he thinks the injuries are coming from. I'd like to hear from some other older wrestlers about this thought process, but the theory sounds plausible. I'd Highly disagree, Arn may think that, but the business has changed a lot since he started. In Arn's time as an active wrestler, wrestlers did wrestle more, but they also didn't travel nearly as far or as much in comparison to today. They were also using steroids and are now dropping like flies. They also didn't do near the amount of dangerous moves. The moonsault was innovated by Mando Guerrero, who didn't debut until 1974. And to top it all off, Arn only wrestled for 15 years. It is a load of malarkey.

I'm just gonna throw in my 2 cents. Working RAW, Smackdown and PPVs is enough in my opinion. There's really no need for house shows. They don't accomplish anything besides more money and injuries. The wrestlers also make more money for working house shows... I didn't say they don't.

Back then they drove hundreds of miles to a show, then back the same day. I can't see where that's changed at all now, except today the wrestlers get a second day off. Also, I don't believe there are 2 or 3 shows done on weekends like they did back then. High risk moves today? You're absolutely correct. Bryan's career is over because of this. Edge did a handful of crazy ladder matches, but his matches were mostly tame. That said, they did superplexs and went over the top to the floor back then. Neville broke his foot with a baseball slide. Rollins lost his acl doing a rope assisted power bomb. I can't remember what put Orton or Cena or Bray out but they don't do high risk moves much, if ever anymore. To compound that, remember War Games? Back then they'd do that match every night for a month or two straight. Imagine the WWE doing the elimination chamber every night of their normal schedule for two straight weeks at house shows. That'd be insane. I don't have a response for the steroid use, other than yes, they did them and I can't see how that would prevent an injury. The big muscle men wrestled just as much as the jobbers that probably didn't take them. As for Arn, his career was cut short due to a neck injury, so it's not like they never got injured, but he wasn't talking just about himself and the horsemen, he was talking about wrestlers in general. And I can't remember guys getting hurt as much back then as they are currently. And he travels with them and works with them daily. He's putting this statement out while he's in the trenches and were speculating from home. I can't say for sure that he's right, but I think there might be some merit to his idea.

I've always heard wrestlers say they love house shows. More often than not it seems. I would suspect the ones who don't like them probably aren't good enough to tell a competent story to a crowd so they resort to ridiculous high spots that can lead to injury. I could be completely wrong. Just my 2 pennies Edit I'm not calling Styles, or anyone out at all. I guess it was more of a general thought. I'm an AJ fan and I hope he's not injured bad or nagging enough for him to miss significant time.

Don´t tell me AJ is trying to pull a Sting....Wrestle 2 matches for WWE, retire then get put in the hall of fame. That was a shame.

Wrestlers today go way to overboard in the ring. Their body breaks down much quicker because of the way they are hitting the mat. if you work a basic match with not much going on it saves the body ALOT. having been in the ring i always enjoyed taking sa break and resting my body once in a while.

Steroids stimulate muscle growth, which would include the healing of muscles. Unless you were a world or national champion or in WWE, you were working a territory. A Superplex to the floor is very dangerous, but in a different way. And is pretty obvious how dangerous it is. War Games every night for weeks, that never actually happened. That was Great American Bash tour in 1988 and there were 10 matches from late June to August. 6 of those matches happened night to night in 2 groupings (3 shows) and guys were switched in and out from night to night. Rollins landed funny off a Top Rope Sunset Flip Powerbomb in a Street Fight, on a house show. Cena, Cesaro, Itami, and Zayn all ripped muscles in their shoulders over time (hmmm). Bray badly twisted his ankle or something and should be back within a few weeks.

CM Punk, Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, etc. Chris Jericho, Batista, Ric Flair, etc. I am not saying there aren't guys that enjoy it, but there are quite a few big names that aren't fans. Ultimate Warrior, Goldberg, Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Sting, Michelle McCool, and AJ Lee are also on the list of disliking house shows.

Hopefully they let AJ off a couple of house shows and SmackDowns for a while.

I was wondering if this would pop up at some point. Especially considering he barely had any downtime between leaving NJPW and his WWE debut - and taking on the WWE schedule.
Maybe have Finn debut at ER, take AJ out, and let him rest up until SummerSlam.
