Watching the tribute video from Raw for Macho Man and wanted to talk about his career and his impact, hopefully many of you can appreciate.
Better as Face/Heel: Face Best Match: Macho Man vs. Ultimate Warrior from WM7 Best Promo: Cream of the crop (dig it!) Favorite Moment: The aftermath of his match with Warrior from WM7
I think Randy was one of the best, if not, the best at being a heel or face. Wrestlemania 7 proved that you can hate him from the start and be loved by the end. His promos are second to none, and at even the age of 45, he had Match of the Year candidates with DDP.
Any favorite moments/matches/promos from the Macho King?

His 97 feud with DDP is one of my favorites. I still think Page should've went over at Halloween Havoc to win the feud 2-1 but all 3 matches are great. I also remember how badass I thought Savage looked and acted when he returned in 99 with his Team Madness gimmick.

I still credit Randy Savage for why I've been a wrestling fan for almost 30 years. He had everything. His charisma was off the charts. And his WWE championship face run is still one of my favorite times to pro wrestling history. I consider him (along with Triple H & Bret Hart) as my top 3 favorites of all time. My grandfather was also a Savage fan. So he would pay for me to get the PPV, I would record them, and then he would borrow the tape the next day. It was a great time and I'd do anything to relive those days again.
I will admit, I was not a fan of the Macho King run with Sherrie. I think I hated Sherrie so much that she made me "mad" at Randy for having her around.
I loved Randy Savage so much that I've spent almost 30 years hating Hulk Hogan. Because I never felt like Hogan gave Savage a chance to truly shine. Hogan just had to make sure Randy never once got a win over him. Hogan just had to make sure to still be the focal point during Savage's WWE title reigns.

I didn't like Macho Man as much as I did once he switched to the cowboy hats, shirts and long tights. While he was still an excellent performer I found he was to cartoony. As far as my favorite match goes it was either WMIII or his Intercontinental victory vs Santana.

Macho Man was and will always be one of my favorites. I loved the whole Mega Powers storyline! Hogan and Savage just clicked! To me their feuds and matches were better than Rock and Austin any day (just my opinion so don't go crazy if you don't agree). The promo where Randy is going crazy talking about Hogan sometime before WM 5, is ne of my favorite promos that he ever cut. His match with Warrior was amazing at WM 7, and he was always fun to watch on TV. In WCW Randy was great as well! I loved him and Flair's feud in 1995-1996, I mean heck they had Liz turn on him I remember watching that as a kid and I was so mad at her. The whole Flair/Savage feud got even better after that though and was just a lot of fun to watch. Randy was the first one to really get the evil side of Hollywood Hogan out as well during their Halloween Havoc 1996 feud. I loved that feud and the match was fun. After Randy joined the nWo, it was really neat to see him feud with DDP, as they had some fantastic matches. Randy Savage was just always one of my favorites, and I always appreciated what he did for wrestling. Hogan and Savage are the reasons I am a wrestling fan, and why I may not watch much current WWE now, I will always have a love for wrestling because of Hogan and Savage.

He was great. One of the guys I didn't get to truly appreciate until I was older. What a great promo he was. Just a legend, overall.

He had some killer matches with Flair in late 95 and early 96. I'm a big fan of their cage match at Superbrawl VI.

Answers: Slightly better as a heel WM3 "King of the Hicks" from Memphis Reunion the Elizabeth at WM7 Savage was one of the few talents with the ability to excel in all three areas of being a wrestler. He had the larger-than-life intangible, he was one of the best workers of all time, and his promos were usually outstanding. There are only a few guys that I'd put in the category of "total talent" with Randy.

If you ever get a chance to watch Bruno Sammartino vs Macho Man do it. It's on the first disc of the "Macho Madness The Ultimate Randy Savage Collection" DVD set.
Randy sells for Bruno the way HBK sold for Hogan but without the disrespect. Bruno would smack him with an old school 70s kick and Macho made me believe he just got hit with a cement truck.

wow, deadly accurate with the review of bruno/savage...what a match! excellent put together, macho made sure everyone there knew that bruno still 'had it', and bruno was clearly enthused. great match. their follow up lumberjack match is entertaining as well and a good finish to their feud allowing ricky to take over.

Savage had everything that stars today are missing. Larger than life character. Charisma off the charts. Told an amazing story in the ring (and not a spot-monkey like a lot of guys today). He was a true once in a lifetime talent who I felt never reached his full potential due to the horrible politics in this business.

Interesting fact for everyone.
The Randy "Macho Man" Savage and Elizabeth WWF Coliseum video tape can go for as high as $200 on eBay!! I am lucky enough to already own it in my collection, but it would suck now if you wanted to buy it and have to dish out anywhere near that kind of cash for it.

If I can ask what did you pay for it? Sure, no problem. I paid $75 for my copy and I got it around three years ago. I thought that price was much too high but being it was the only copy of that tape on eBay at the time, I went with it. Now I see that its just gone up way too high. But I guess its all about supply and demand with certain things. Hardcore Macho Man fans will want it if they don't have it already, and will most likely pay out ridiculous amounts of money if needed.

As far as my favorite match goes it was either WMIII or his Intercontinental victory vs Santana. I was coming in to say just about the opposite... I liked the sort of flamboyant cowboy look more than the Hendrix look. Probably because, when I first got into wrestling as a kid in 1991, he was rocking that look.
