Guys if Hasbro ever had the licence to create WWE figures again (and I know this is a long shot) - do you think they would use the old molds? Do you think it is possible? And if so what wrestlers would be in what molds? I.e Cena in a Hogan #1 mold or Cesaro in a Rick Martel mold etc etc

I'd guess they'd have to make new ones. Time, wear, or even if they're around, I'm sure they're not useful. Plus, I can't say I KNOW this, but I'd guess toy making is different today all around vs. 25 years ago.
I'd like for them to make them in the same style though, yes! I'm sure they'd really be more marketed towards adult collectors though. Kids still want what Mattel is offering. But damn, retro nerds like me, I'd love some new official Hasbros.

This discussion has popped up from time to time.
If Hasbro somehow should get back the WWE license they wouldn't use the old molds; it simply doesn't fit in with their current toy offerings. I'm pretty sure for kids it would be something like their Hero Mashers they have now. For the "older" kids the figures would resemble the Star Wars black series.

Noooo! Lol. I think I'll always keep the hope there that they may return someday however far fetched that may be. But yes completely agree that they'd be pretty similar to some of the stuff hasbro are doing right now. 25 years ago! Wow. It's quite alarming to think that if you went back the same length of time from when hasbro started the WWF figures, you'd be in 1965. Now that makes me feel old.

Why would they?
The old style is worlds apart from what is produced today. Simply put, figures done in a vintage style have niche appeal. Sure, WE'D love 'em (who wouldn't love Kane done Hasbro Style?) but Hasbro just doesn't operate that way.
Case in point, Some Star Wars collectors would LOVE to get some new figures done Vintage style. Hasbro does produce figures with classic articulation, but they're still sculpted with modern detail. It's a middle ground, and I do like it, but I'd LOVE a Mace Windu that could stand next to my Obi Wan from 1978, and look like they were from the same line.

Man I can't believe Hasbros were that long ago! I was born in '91 and my dad bought a few before I was born. Guess he knew I'd be a wrestling fan haha.
I'd love to see classic Hasbro styled new guys. I don't think the idea is as far fetched as it may seem. I mean WWE is aiming a lot more towards little kids. It be swell if Hasbro and Mattem could hold the rights to make figures. I mean I could totally see vintage style Hasbros being made. Cena with an attitude smash, Roman with a power punch, AJ with a forearm smasher....the gimmicky moves are an endless possibility and totally up the vintage Hasbro alley! And me personally, I'd LOVE to finally see a Hasbro style diva. I wish Hasbro would have ventured to make popular managers like Bearer, Sherri and Jimmy (I think he was still there in the early part of Hasbro.)

I guess we can dream, but Jakks did release that LJN tribute line. I've never actually compared them, did they do it to the right scale with those?

For some reason, Jakks made them way too small to blend in with the LJNs. Instead, they felt more like WCW's OSFTM line. As much as I'd like to see the Hasbro line continue, I'd want it to continue from 1994 --- I wouldn't be interested in modern hasbro style figures.

I seem to think that they were about the same height as the OSFTM figures (about half a head shorter than LJN figures), but looking at them from the side, the OSFTM figures were almost as thick as an LJN while the Jakks were considerably thinner.

That's awful,I was pretty impressed with most of what Jakks did, I think I they're head sculpts are much more detailed and realistic than the Mattel ones

I just couldn't see them recycling the old molds. MAYBE for certain nostalgia figs if they ever did get the go ahead to produce them again, but I would imagine mostly all new molds otherwise.
