I know collecting is by nature a nit-picky hobby, but this is a bit overboard in my opinion. Honestly don't see what the big deal is, no offense.

Does Neville have ball jointed hips like E37 Malenko? nevilles got the weird often stuck v1 hips joint i bought neville for parts, and was surprised to see the painted thighs. looks bad--my fig just got like one layer of spray, lots of black seeping thru. fun figure to mess around with though and all the aerial stuff neville does. & Mattel still can't do a darker/bluer purple. his purple tights don't match his boots and are almost like razor ramon's color. I want a purple flair, but I'm sure Mattel's purple flair will be a Magenta flair

Any topic I start is open to debate and that's what I love about forums! You get to hear so many different views from many people. I love to hear all opinions and I just thought I'd share mine. You CAN'T offend me at all - Well maybe with the exception of your Patriots/Yankees avatar - haha!

Too many people get too butt hurt when someone shares the opposite opinion. That being said it doesnt bother me with the painted parts. But i open my figs and they go right to display. I just enjoy browsing my large roster selection and dont mind an off part here or there. I have around 300 figures so wouldnt consider myself a cassual collector, but i def understand trying to find the best paint apps and figs you can.

Fine with me, gives me another figure with muscular legs that can be made into black tights with a little goof off and not hard to find or purchase. Works for me.

The first rule of customizing and maybe even painting in general is that it is easier to darken light colors than lighten dark colors. And thus, Mattel has done this. Makes sense to me.

Mattel needs to learn that skin colored paint sucks, especially when you cast it over a darker color like black, or brown, because it just shows what a completely different shade it is.
Anything to save a buck, though. Money is all Mattel cares about. I get that it's a business, but I would be embarassed to put out figures with some of the cut corners that they have done in the last year and a half. I'd want my work to show a little more dedication, effort and self-respect. But I'm not the one being paid to do this, so if your boss tells you to use the cheap paint or leave something unpainted, or cast something in a certain color to maximize the profits....you listen to your boss who pays you, not some people who are probably going to buy it anyway.
And there is the problem right there......we complain, but we bought it anyway, so yeah Mattel made a real cheap decision, but they knew they were gonna get away with it.

I'd be embarassed to say I created all those painted faced Daniel Bryan's.....because the painted face makes his skin tone look GREEN. I go to Walmart yesterday to a wall of Elite Daniel Bryan's that all look SEA SICK. Do it right, or don't do it. That's my opinion. If Mattel can't afford to make a Daniel Bryan where the face is cast in skin toned plastic and paint the beard and hair the correct color, then they should just not make Daniel Bryan instead of putting one out who looks like he ate spoiled food. Again.....just my opinion.

But like I said, the boss tells you do cut corners, you do what the boss says and you cut corners. The bosses at Mattel don't want to sacrifice one cent of profit just to make the Daniel Bryan figure look better, because like I said, we are going to buy it anyway. We bought Jakks figures that were 75% unpainted at the end, trust me, Mattel has a lot more leash before it gets to that point. Elite 39 Sting is great after I re-painted it. This is the case with a lot of Mattel's "bad scans".....when painted properly, you see they are not really bad at all...but for $19.99 + tax at retail, I don't really think I should have to sit there and buy the paints, brushes, sealers and take the time to paint Sting to actually look good. But whatever. My personal opinions aside, I think we can all agree that in a perfect world, there would not be painted skin tone.

All parts of a figure which would be skin should be molded in skin tone. It looks awful if any paint is lost on these parts. It is almost impossible to find a good looking LJN of Honkey Tonk Man, Bam Bam Bigelow, & Ted Dibiase due to this.

Yeah you can have an opinion....but it's a completely un-informed opinion because it's based purely on your speculation. You don't work and don't have any knowledge of the inner workings of their day to day operations but still choose to challenge and question somebody's effort and dedication from a far. The last time you did this, you offended one of the board's greatest resources with said un-informed "opinion" that he left the board for a pro-longed period of time. In the end, you still purchased the thing you complained about making yourself look the fool in the process.

In the end, you still purchased the thing you complained about making yourself look the fool in the process. You are 100% right. I proved my own point. I bitched about the Sting figure so hard, and I still bought it. Hell, I bought 2 of them. So Mattel should absolutley 100% not listen to me or anybody else, because I'm buying the figures no matter what, so they shouldn't stop doing any of the things I'm complaining about, because it's not going to make a difference. Like I said, Jakks was putting out 75% unpainted figures, and things like "black Ric Flair" and "Naked Mark Henry" were happening and we still bought it. Mattel still puts out a high enough quality product that trust me, they can and probably will to continue to cut more and more corners until it is noticiable enough to the casual consumer that it actually affects their business. As to your other point, I couldn't care less if Bill posts or not. He's an adult. If me complaining about paint apps bothers him that much, I apologize and he should just ignore me. But I'm going to continue to crituque figures that I feel fall short of my expectations. That's why we're here. Clearly other people feel the same way, I did not make this thread and it got to the 2nd page before I even got here.....so to single me out as the lone-bitcher is a little unfair. I don't really want to talk about this anymore, lol.

I love Mattel but dread to imagine how cheap the figures will be by 2020.

Ummmm except what you don't seem to understand, it wasn't an individual critique of a figure that led to Bill taking a break. You questioning his effort, dedication, and livelihood is what did it. It was completely uncalled for and you basically just did it again except you put a disclaimer in front of it like it's okay. You're making vast generalizations regarding something that has so many variables and moving pieces none of us could even fathom until one of us we're in his shoes.

I am in agreement that this technique SUCKS for figures. You end up having all sorts of paint chips due to how fragile the paint is.

How can you only see the end result and begin to judge someone's effort, dedication and self-respect? Once again completely uncalled for
