Good night of fights overall. Lots of decisions but a lot of action throughout all of 'em.
Cody winning in the first was the icing on the cake for the night. Stephens getting the W over Barao was good too. Always been a Lil' Heathen fan.
People seem suprised Sara beat Evil Eye but I was expecting that. Her wrestling is dominant. More surprised Caraway won tonight.

Cody Garbrandt is the one who put the 1 in 21-1.

Why is no one sending this to WWE? God knows they like their phrases used in other sports.

Bc Cody is not a household name....YET. Think he's gonna make it to a household name? I think he is the next big thing. Been watching him since his first fight in UFC and knew he would be a star. Obviously he has to keep winning and get a title match. Almeida is his biggest win to date, but he sent a strong message. Bantamweights have never been viewed as hard hitting fighters. But thats what Cody is. He has ridiculous knockout power and his background is amateur wrestling. So he hasnt even used the discipline he is most experienced at....he has relied on his ability to hit hard and avoid big shots. For him to get to the peek of UFC, I think he has to move up a weight class. Outside of Cruz, there isnt anyone in the Bantamweights that can sell a fight as well as Cody. Urijah/Cody cant get ugly. Cody/Dillashaw WILL be ugly, but Dillashaw doesnt carry the same weight as some of Featherweight names....Connor, Aldo, Edgar. The kid has his head right though. Obviously he is in a great camp and Urijah isnt anal to make restrictions on where and who he can train with. Even Jon Jones stated a few times that he believes Cody will be huge because of his power and how impressed he has been in some training sessions they have. Cody's willingness to learn, staying hungry and fighting with a chip on his shoulder is driving him. This dude aint supposed to be here. Hes supposed to be in jail. So his "story" adds amazing merit to sell to a general audience. Im sticking with my prediction that Cody WILL have a title shot before the year is out, especially if Cruz beats Urijah. Cody is already lobbying to get on 203 against Caraway, though I think Caraway is a step down from fighters he needs to be challenging, even if he is ranked higher. Im not sure he is really better than Sterling and would like another fight with those two. But Cody needs the Dillashaw fight and THEN a title match.

I don't think Cody will get a title shot this year... there's probably only time for one more defence of the title (after this weekends' fight) - and providing Dillashaw gets past Raphael Assuncao, then Cruz/Dillashaw 2 or Faber/Dillashaw seems a natural.

That certainly helps him.

I think Cody could get shotgunned if things play out right. He's red hot right now. If he gets the 203 fight and takes care of Caraway convincingly....he could get catapulted. And like you said....Dillashaw has a hell of a fight for himself coming up. If Cruz wins, the Faber/Dillashaw fight sells itself. And they can justify putting Cody in. If Dillashaw loses, he definitely aint getting a title match. If he wins, he could get leapfrogged. I think he is the next big thing. He said this kid will be a star.
