So I'm rewatching Sons of Anarchy, and I just finished season 3 and that finale is still my favorite finale of any show. That's what inspired me to make this thread.
The whole story of Jax turning on the club and making a deal with Agent Stahl, but not really turning on the club and it being a huge swerve that the entire club was in on, so they could kill Stahl, who was partially responsible for the death of Opie's wife, and had just been a complete dirty agent who would do anything she could to get what she wanted. The entire scene from all of the Sons getting arrested leading up to Opie being the one to kill Stahl in the same way she got his wife killed was just so well done.
So what's everyone else's favorites? I'm interested to see what's posted.

The Season 4 finale of Breaking Bad first came to my mind.

The End of Time Part 2, end of Tennant's run as The Doctor with a new Doc coming in and a whole new writing staff and EVERYTHING. Hell of a send off.

The Season 4 finale of Breaking Bad first came to my mind. This was just about as perfect as you could get, honestly. I also loved Lost season 3's finale. Just mind blowing stuff.

NS is potentially my favorite episode of tv ever. So I concur with your pick.
The season 5 finale of Buffy, The Gift, is phenomenal. Was going to be the actual end of the series and I think you can tell and they delivered.

Supernatural season 5 finale... was the perfect ending to the series entirely. Should've ended there.
Prison Break season 1 finale. "We Run." That was such an awesome cliffhanger, made me VERY excited for season 2.
The Shield season 5 finale. After Lem dies, and Vic and the strike team are walking from the scene and Vic says "we're gonna find the guy who did this and we're gonna kill him." All the while, it's Shane who's standing right there. Chills.

Although the series finale of the show was so bad that it forever tainted my overall view of it, I will never forget the Season 3 Finale of Lost.
As @wells said, it was just mind-blowing at the time.
Season 4 of Dexter had a pretty legendary finale as well.

Dexter on the other hand, the entire last season killed any enjoyment I ever had for the show. Season 4 was beautiful too.

Loved the first 7 seasons. the entire monstrosity that was the final season. Everything about it was terrible. I'll just uncharacteristically hold my tongue about Lost. I did love the Richard episode though. My favorite character of the show.

I would say the season 2 finale of The Shield ranks up there as a personal favorite.
It marked the strike team's true downfall. Sure you could argue that Vic killing Terry at the end of the pilot started it all.
But the money tore the team apart. Especially poor Lem.

Season 4 of Game of Thrones. Fantastic, game changing (no pun intended) episode stacked with big moments.
Season 2 of Hannibal. An extremely intense forty minutes, and probably one of the most shocking episodes of TV I've ever seen.
And I highly agree with the previously mentioned season 4 of Breaking Bad

Angel S5 ending is incredible, heartbreaking, funny, sad and depressing all in one go. By far the best finale of anything. Some other amazing ones off the top of my head: Californication S3 - Perfection, it completely defines why I love the show as much as I do. Buffy S5 - Really emotional ending with Buffy sacrificing herself to save her sister. Devious Maids S3 - SO MANY CLIFFHANGERS, JAMPACKED FULL OF AWESOMENESS. Futurama (all of them) Breaking Bad S5 - Ended perfectly. XFiles S10 - I'm still on the edge of my seat waiting for S11. Lost S1 - Opening the hatch was such an awesome way to end the Season. I may have never been so excited for a followup season to start. NS is potentially my favorite episode of tv ever. So I concur with your pick. The season 5 finale of Buffy, The Gift, is phenomenal. Was going to be the actual end of the series and I think you can tell and they delivered. I'm really glad it wasn't the series finale of Buffy though, I don't really like the idea of her dying in it. Would have felt like it had a ton left to offer (though it did even after S7 I think).

Season 4 of Dexter had a pretty legendary finale as well. Lost sort of got progressively worse throughout every Season. Though I think Season 5 was the outlier and that 6 was a step up. I didn't mind the finale, I'm not sure what everyone else was expecting, it closed really well aside from unanswered questions. Dexter's first 4 seasons are Television at its finest, 6 was also good. 5,7 and 8 are best forgotten.

Just a few of my favorites:
Buffy Season 5 — Like the others on here, seemed like they put everything into this episode. Turned out to be one of their best. I did hate most of season 6 though. Hard to go from defeating a god, to barely scraping by against 3 dorks.
Angel Season 5 — Was very sad to see this show go, actually liked it more than Buffy. Seemed like there was so much more steam left in it, would have loved to seen how the season 6 from the comics would have played out.
Scrubs Season 8 — One of the best show endings ever imo. Seemingly wrapped up every story it needed to and went out on a high note (to this day pretending that season 9 never happened)
The Office Season 3 — Was so glad to see Jim/Pam finally happen
Arrow Season 2 — Slade Wilson to date was still the best Arrow villain imo. His story arc was one of the best any DC show has produced.
Some I've really disliked:
Walking Dead Season 3 — The awesome season 4 midseason finale made up for this episode somewhat, but waiting all season to see the governor barge into the prison only for it to turn out like that was a big letdown. Side note: at least they killed Andrea.
True Blood Season 7 — Its a real shame that this was a pretty good show from seasons 1-3, but really took a huge nose dive from season 3 on, culminating in the seemingly half-assed effort from season 7.

I have a couple.....but one that springs immediately to mind that hasn't been mentioned was the season 3 final of Star Trek: TNG. Best Of Both Worlds part 1.
Their attempt to rescue Picard fails....they have no option except to use their big weapon and possibly kill Captain Picard.....the music, Rikers face, the rest of the senior staffs faces......the delivery of the "fire" line?
Incredible. as a 12 year old I was losing it that I wouldn't see the next part for so long!!!!
Supernatural season 4 & 5 also had incredible endings.......the end of season 3 was soul destroying. They do everything they can to stop Lilith and fail really badly. That took stones to end the season that way IMHO.
