My thoughts are if you're doing something that serious to have your car seized maybe you'll learn your lesson. Luckily I don't have any reason to worry about it as I don't plan on braking any major laws especially drug related.

Technically cops are not allowed to check your car without your permission or approval. They know this, so instead they ask you questions like is there any weapons in the vehicle? If you say no, then that gives them the right to check. So it's best not to just say anything and probably nudge cuz nudging can mean anything really.

This is criminal behavior. No other way to see it.

A "mistake" is forgetting to do your homework.
A crime is not a mistake.

Owning/Driving a vehicle isn't a right, its a privilege. If you choose to bend that privilege its the judges right to take that privilege away from you. I'm all for that. Most DUI offenders repeat that offence. Maybe taking that car away saved a few lives.
Selling the vehicle also makes sence for the state to profit. They payed an officer to make the stop/arrest. That cost money and time. They payed a towing company to transport the car to the impound. That costs time and money. They paid a judge to hear the case. That cost money and time. They paid a booking officer to process paperwork in the jail. That costs money. They provided a cell, possible meals, shower, and bathroom. That costs money. So, if selling a car, at between $5k-$45k brings that money back to the state as opposed to raising taxes to make up for lose, I'm all for it.

Im guessing either you should or have been incarcerated before. Youre rights go away when you are stupid and break the law. People are NOT above the law.

I think this great for dui. Though it'll probably make the person drink more, its a good punishment.
Other than that, i can see this being a huge corruption problem.

Your rights so not go away when you break the law. That is completely unconstitutional. What are they teaching you kids in schools these days??? And no, I've never been incarcerated nor do I deserve to be. I'm just not a heartless piece of crap like most of the people in this thread.

A "mistake" is forgetting to do your homework. A crime is not a mistake. It depends on the crime
