So about a month ago I'm at my local Target and I come across the toy section and come across all of the WWE figures for sale. As a kid I collected WWF LJNs as well as Hasbros but as I got older I basically stopped, even though I have all my figures from the Hasbro days all tucked away. I was really blown away by the figures (as I have been over the last several years whenever I came across them in retail locations) and decided that night that I wanted to pick up the ones I liked (which quickly shifted to only Elites and Dms that I like). Fast forward to a month later and I'm completely sucked into collecting wrestling figures again. I'm running around toy hunting, seeking stuff out online, etc.
Clearly things are much different than my days collecting as a kid and I've managed to find this place (which is awesome by the way!) and a lot of resources online. But I do have some questions for you experienced collectors here that I've been curious about. Thanks in advance if you choose to add something here!
So I've noticed there are garbage rings and really cool collector rings. I have the WCW Hall of Fame ring and I'm assuming this is more like the junky throw away ones that are more for kids playing with their figures than it is for collectors. So I've come across the WWE Scale Ring (which I think I'm going to get because I love all of the aprons and accessories they have for them. Plus, it looks like a killer way to display them) and I'm thinking of ordering one. Now, do most of you guys have the WWE scale ring for display/photos, etc? What is the normal price range of these? I'm assuming RSC is the only place you can get them.
Also, does anyone have any cool places online to sell, buy, trade figures? I haven't really been able to find any and the ones I have I'm not sure if they are reliable or not. Anyways, thanks in advance for the help. I've really been having a blast collecting again.

100% right about the spring ring. They are more child or play focused than accurate. The Authentic Scale Ring is the one you want. Ringside and other retailers sell them; but Ringside's usually have extra bonus ringskirts. I have two rings which I use to swap between different ring ropes, ring skirts, and ring posts to achieve an accurate look for different time periods of wrestling. Ringside has the newest NXT edition (which is on pre order) listed for $65 and the newest one that's available right now; the WM31 ring, for $50.

I have an ASR. It's awesome. Get the wcw mats and skirts and get better ropes. All of this you can get at rsc.
It's expensive catching up, Good luck. I've always just used eBay. Thankfully I'm caught up to my satisfaction.

Welcome aboard. I got back into collecting a few years ago and spent thousands of dollars in a few months, then sold it all off out of guilt. Now I buy 1 figure per week and I enjoy it much more. If you're working within a budget, I would suggest resisting the urge to go nuts and drive yourself into the poor house. You'll really enjoy the hobby more and appreciate each figure by pacing yourself IMO. I know it seems you may never get caught up or that you'll never get your hands on the older figures, but Mattel has been re-releasing a lot of the older flashbacks which is nice for people like us who jumped in late.
I get almost all my figures online from Amazon or eBay with occasional purchases from Target or Toys R Us. If you're not impatient about getting new ones as soon as they come out, you can often get elites for around $15 a pop on Amazon. eBay is great for loose figures and the occasional bargain. I got Hunter Hearst Helmsley flashback MOC for $10 on eBay last week.

It's crazy how much customization you can do these days. It's so cool! This might be a stupid question, but how big is the actual scale ring? It looks pretty big from everything I can gather, but I've never seen a picture of one compared to anything to give me an idea. Obviously they're bigger than the spring ring, but I'm not really sure HOW much bigger.

Generally speaking I've already set my limits of what I'll pay for a figure, how I go about trying to get them cheaper through retail. I was just trying to put together a decent collection and then I would slow down a bit, which I've done at this point. The online stuff is overwhelming because I can seriously go on RSC and drop a grand RIGHT NOW. That's what I'm trying to avoid. Up to this point I've only ordered two figures online (mainly to get them cheaper) but everything else has been retail for me. I like toyhunting and it's been fun because I've been finding cool stuff in stores, but that's going to come to an end as I've already picked up most of the stuff that the stores near me have. But once they restock, I'm sure I'll be buying all kinds of stuff. Do you collect only loose? I have some loose and some MOC, but I've been tempted to open more of them. I know it's a hobby and I'm doing it because I'm also a wrestling fan, but some of these I just can't bring myself to open. Especially if it means completely destroying the value of something. I just got a Finn Balor Elite the other day at a local Toys R Us. I wanted one prior but they're fairly pricey online. Now I have one, I just coudln't bring myself to open. If I find another through retail, I'll grab one and open it.

Is it wrong that I pictured myself walking out of a store with all kinds of elites while figure collectors are tearing up witnessing it all, while this is playing?

I have the ASR and it's great. I got mine from a online retailer called wrestling world and I think it was £65. They sell them at a few shops but Ringside have cool exclusive aprons. The only thing I would say is make sure you have the room. I underestimated how big it would be. Mine has to go under my bed lol and also if you have pets their hair is more than likely going to get on the ring. On the whole it's an awesome ring and so much better than the spring rings, you can actually do a suplex without making someone hit the other side of the ring lol Also welcome back to collecting.

In the beginning for me I would only buy one to keep unopened. I regret not buying another to have loose. The figures are truly better when open

It's not fun unless I can get my hands on them, pose them how I want them, rearrange them on my shelf, etc.

Welcome back, welcome back, welcome baaaaaaack!
You got back into the wrestling figure game at the best time possible. Legends and DM series are back, and Target/Walmart/TRU have dope elite series of their own. Good luck keeping and catching up with all the goods!

I have both of the rings. The WCW ring is just like the other rings you see in ost stores. It is not good n way too small. The ASR is so awesome I definitely reccommend it. I open most of my stuff to display. I am also an old school collector all the way back to the LJN days. Welcome to the board as it is a great place and you will find yourself on here every day!!
