I've been reading alot of speculation and rumors about The Last Jedi recently and I just want to say this.. If Luke Skywalker dies, I'm out.. If Luke Skywalker doesn't use the force or fight with his lightsaber, I'm out.. If they don't treat the character of Luke Skywalker with respect and do the character proper justice, I'm out.. If they start erasing plot points and start taking away from the OT, I'm out. I have passionate feelings towards Star Wars and the overall meaning of the original trilogy AND prequel trilogy.. So if Disney decides to do anything controversial or detrimental to the legitimate hero of the franchise, I won't sink another dollar into the new Star Wars. Episode 7 was fine, it was the start of something.. But The Last Jedi is pivotal moving forward for me.. Luke Skywalker might be one of the most iconic characters ever created.. So I hope they realize they must tread lightly moving forward with him.. Mark Hamill has been vocal lately. His comments and body language have been less than enthusiastic when talking about The Last Jedi and Luke's arc. I'm legitimately worried, and I NEVER get like that towards a film or show.. But I am 100% prepared to walk away from this franchise if some of the things I've been reading turn out to be true. I was done after the awful prequel trilogy and Original Trilogy edits. But Force Awakens brought me back

If he dies I'm ok depending on how it's done. I'm also ok if Luke doesn't have a lightsaber fight. Hamill is old, he'd look awful, and 95% would be stunt doubles. It would be Christopher Lee all over again. I said leading up to Force Awakens, Luke leading a charge from an xwing makes just as much sense since he's one of the best pilots ever See I think Luke at this stage of his character NEEDS to show off exactly how powerful he became.. When we last saw him in RotJ he was just beginning to find his strength and only starting to become the Jedi we all imagined he would become (and eventually did become in the novels). He doesn't need to be acrobatic and dance like with his fighting like we've seen recently. I think an older and wiser, yet more powerful Luke Skywalker would be like Ben Kenobi was in A New Hope.. Very skilled with the force and extremely methodical when fighting with a saber. Hamill is old but he's not that old.. I remember one of the big story's when the he was brought back for Episode 7 was how they made him get into great shape.. They gave him a personal trainer and he was said to have got in better shape from the filming of TFA to TLJ. I've been reading alot of speculation and rumors about The Last Jedi recently and I just want to say this.. If Luke Skywalker dies, I'm out.. But Force Awakens brought me back I couldn't even imagine having grown up with the Original Trilogy, only to see the edited versions come out later on.. But I can definitely compare my feelings of the OT/PT and this new trilogy to your feelings for the OT and PT.. I've become extremely skeptical about what's happening and extremely worried about the direction of the overall story/saga. It's almost the exact same scenario only a different generation. The Prequel Trilogy was told with Anakin but it was all built around Luke's future.. Everything done with Star Wars even up until The Last Jedi has been the Luke Skywalker story.. Everything leads to Luke, from Phantom Menace to The Force Awakens.. Luke has always been final chapter.. Now all of a sudden he's not final chapter and I'm over here worried about him getting the boot so they can put over the new "Luke" in Rey's character. I'm kinda sure things will work out.. But I'm also about 40% sure I'm going to leave The Last Jedi legitimately upset at something having to do with Luke's arc.

I think it would be cooler to see Luke just own with the force instead of a saber.

Sheesh am I in the minority that I want to see Luke die? I love Luke, but killing Luke in a heroic way would be great for me. I think he deserves a proper send off. I wanted Leia to be the one to remain alive, but with her not being in Episode IX, it seems like that won't be the case.

I'm ok with Luke dying( needs to be in a certain way though).....just like I was with Solo. However NOTHING can happen to Chewie or R2.
I would prefer to see Luke be a mega force wielder that has no need for a Sabre. Those are for effin amateurs.

The reason I never had a problem with Han Solo dying was because it had become common knowledge Harrison Ford wanted that character dead back during the OT, and he was actually disappointed that he was alive and well in RotJ.
I can't believe people on here don't want to see Luke Skywalker break out his green saber.. Give me Luke Skywalker mowing people down like Vader did in Rogue One.. Give me Luke Skywalker and his saber vs. The Knights of Ren.. Have the Knights of Ren established as a real force throughout the movie only for them to get wrecked by Luke in the 3rd act.
Also considering Mark Hamill is the only one alive heading into Episode 9 (Carrie Fisher having passed and Han Solo being killed) there's something very unsettling about the original trilogy main cast playing ZERO part in the story moving forward.

No way Luke doesn't make it out of VIII alive, ha.
I'm with you man. I'm pumped to see him duel. I get the idea of him being otherworldly and oozing force power and all that but I'll be happy to see him battle. Though I am probably the only person on the planet that didn't care for the Vader slaughter in Rogue One. I want to see Luke's saber again more than I ever wanted to see Vader's.

I'm fully expecting a Luke vs Kylo saber fight. The idea that it might not happen hasn't even crossed my mind. Snoke will want to kill Luke and turn Rey if I were to guess. We know Luke wants to end the Jedi but surely he understands that means ending the KoR and defeating Kylo, who is technically a Jedi the same way Anakin was at one point. Those two paths lead right to each other.

Actually nothing would delight me more now than to see Luke in some great lightsabre action.

But in all reality the story we have so far has been building to exactly what you stated above.. Kylo Ren vs. Luke Skywalker. The entire plot of TFA was Snoke and Kylo Ren looking for Luke so they could finish him once and for all.. I get the want to see Rey and Kylo go at it again, but the story doesn't seem to warrant that as much as Luke v Kylo or Snoke.

I think Rey and Kylo might face off in Last Jedi, but I think the real big battle they will have will be in 9
In good news I got my theatrical Last Jedi poster today

Han Solo spin-off loses both directors with only 3 weeks left in productionPhil Lord and Christopher Miller are no longer directing the Han Solo Star Wars spin-off.
"Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm in a statement.
“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew,” stated Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.JESUS CHRIST. What a dumpster fire this film must be.. Not even the almighty Disney can spark any inspiration for this. I've been reading things ranging from "too much comedy" to "bad acting".. Alot of rumors pointing the finger at Emilia Clarke being downright awful.. And other rumors claiming that the man playing young Han Solo, Alden Ehrenreich, is also doing a terrible job. I was actually looking forward to seeing what Lord & Miller were going to bring to the table in the Star Wars universe.. With Donald Glover as Lando, I was actually interested in how it turned out. But now? Not a chance.. And I honestly believe at this point the Han Solo spin off will be the first truly bad Star Wars movie.. Will make The Phantom Menace look like The Shawshank Redemption. Disney should have never pushed for this. No one wanted it.. And now look what's happening.. Even the 2 guys that were hired to make it happen don't want it.

Apparently, Kasdan was getting pissed because Miller and Lord kept letting the actors improvise in scenes and there was too much comedy, and he wanted them to stick hard to the script. In other words, Kennedy and Kasdan wanted directing puppets and that's not the job Miller and Lord thought they were taking, at least from what I gather. So yeah, creative differences.
I can't say I'm sad about it. They've been filming for five months. Seems like they're going to be faced with the decision to either sweep it all under the rug, or put out a bad Star Wars film. Best of luck to them. It shouldn't have taken them this long to figure out that this was a terrible idea...

I think it would diminish the Emperor if he had botched killing his Master. The Emperor was the most important Sith since the rule of 2 began....Plagueis being alive would be a knock for the character IMO. He doesn't seem like the kind of dude to botch a job like this...LOL But then again? I think it would be great(sometimes) to learn more about this character.

But I always find myself leaning towards Snoke being a past Sith. It just makes more sense that he's someone of significant meaning in the past rather than just being some new character Is there any news on them possibly revealing his past?

Well... they got Ron Howard. Not sure if the folks at Lucasfilm have seen Inferno or not but it absolutely sucked. I jest, mostly. Howard is a great director and props to them for going to get someone with name value to create the illusion that everything is going to be fine. I'm still not going to see it. Surely the bulk of the film has already been filmed. Which means a crazy amount of reshoots are probably about to happen. Which means they'll cram months of scenes into weeks of filming and then try to salvage the film on the cutting room floor.
You have to appreciate the tabloid like drama that all of this is bringing haha.
