New trilogy will not be The Old Republic. Bummer. aww.......that's what I was hoping. Me too. It seems like they only want to go deeper past the Original triology. I would love an Old Republic Trilogy in my lifetime. Also, A Clone Wars story movie.

It does kind of make sense though. I trust Rian, and if he wants to really leave his mark on Star Wars, it does make sense for him to want to make up an ENTIRELY new trilogy.
Think about how much of a beating he would take if he does KOTOR and doesn't do it exactly as some people think it should be done.
I firmly believe that sooner or later, Disney will cave and give us Old Republic stuff. They're not stupid. They know what people want and what they will pay for. If we show that we'll come for it, they'll make it.

CNN.com said the movie sucked.
No Spoilers, it just said it was too long, new characters had no depth, and the ending will leave fans unsatisfied.

Just had the movie spoiled thanks to some prick, so I decided to read some spoilery reviews, and my god, this sounds... Bad. No spoilers ahead, don't worry. But they took the Marvel road. Lots of jokes, and in this case, none fit in. 5 reviews out of the 11 I read said this is the worst Star Wars movie yet. I'll get it on dvd whenever it comes out. Not gonna bother the 45 minute drive to the theatre for this.

Disney makes great Marvel films but when it comes to Star Wars they've been struggling. So it seems like Disney is going to be 0-3 with Star Wars, bummer. At least get one film right!

Just got back from The Force Awakens/The Last Jedi IMAX double bill, and found it very good. The only faults I’d give it are there were way too many jokes and it seemed like there were like 5 different storylines going on at the same time (kinda like a Game of Thrones episode lol) but I still enjoyed it.

Just got back from seeing it and I liked it. Too early to say whether it's the best as I'd have to watch it some more but it's not a bad film. Yeah there's a fair few jokes but not in a cringey way, or trying to be like some Marvel films. Though there were some moments that were quite serious yet some daft woman nearby laughed at them. Think that was her problem, not the film's though. It didn't really feel like a drag either since it is the longest Star Wars yet. Time seemed to fly by for the most part.

My mate who is by far the biggest Star Wars fan I know texted me. "Is my whole life a lie? What the was that garbage?" This is a guy with an entire Star Wars tattoo sleeve, action figures and signed photos for well over £6000, had a Star Wars themed wedding and he just seems completely crushed by how crap it was (in his opinion) I just feel bad for the true hardcore fans who feel like this isn't Star Wars anymore. I personally don't care too much. Reading /r/movies comments on the movie is great fun though.

Went to the 7pm showing tonight. There were way too many jokes. They weren’t like subtle, charming, Han Solo or even Poe episode 7 jokes. They were slapstick, uncomfortable, don’t fit the moment jokes. A real shame. The story itself was pretty strong. Lots of new creatures, and I loved the premise of the chase. All things Rey/Kylo were great imo. I really liked the dynamic between Rose and Finn too. I just expected more with Johnson at the helm. Something a bit darker and emotionally gritty in the way of Empire or Rogue One. That film was kind of there but buried in a mountain of family friendliness. I mean Luke ing winks at 3PO like he’s Deadpool. I really wanted this to be the film that finally hit the OT mark with fans but it’s just not that movie, unfortunately.

Empire Strikes Back is my second favorite film of all time, just to give my thoughts context.
I liked it, quite a bit. Yes, there were too many jokes, but I think people have rose colored glasses and forget the entire franchise has had quite a bit of comic relief throughout the years. It was a bit much, but not significantly overbearing like Thor: Ragnarok was first example.
I really liked it, but I don't know exactly how much yet. I need more time to marinate on it, and another viewing. For what it's worth I've heard a few reviewers I know say that they were underwhelmed, but after a second viewing, they liked it a lot more. I'm curious to see how I feel.
The general idea of the film being essentially a time oriented thing I really enjoyed.
Hamill was great. Arguably the best live action acting performance he's ever given.
Anything involving Kylo and Rey was fantastic no matter what they were doing in my opinion.
Regardless of it's faults, I still love all the new characters, Rey, Finn, Kylo and Poe, and want to see where they go next.
Anyone who dislikes that Force Awakens was too safe, this was not. As a Star Wars film, this took risks. Whether you like them or not, it's fine, but it took them.
I think we'll really have to see how Episode IX turns out to look back on this one truly properly.
I'm guessing IX will feature a time jump of between 5-10 years after the end of this one, going back to more traditional style in the franchise
Stay through the start of credits. No scenes, but there's something after the start of the credits before the main roll that everyone will enjoy seeing.
