We all know WWE has been terrible in recent years. I do feel like since the brand split its starting to get better. Still not great but you can see them trying to find their footing and lay foundation. Can't complain about that. What I can complain about is a trend I started noticing in the last couple months of WWE giving stuff away too early and making me question why I should bother watching the PPV.
For most of the matches on last month's PPV, we saw them multiple times in the buildup to the PPV match. If I wasn't a network subscriber I'd have less incentive to subscribe or order the PPV given that it's full of stuff I already saw.
Summerslam has at least 3 more examples of this. Last night we got a lengthy match between Rusev and Reigns. Why do I care about their Summerslam match now? Last night's match was already pretty good. I don't expect them to raise the bar that much on Sunday. Last night we also saw Balor debut the Demon on the main roster. I was really looking forward to see that for the first time on Sunday. Now I feel like Sunday is gonna be like "We're doing this again." Also last night Foley announced a best of 7 between Cesaro and Sheamus. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Cesaro beat Sheamus twice in the last two weeks? Why do we need a best of 7?
I'm sure there's way more examples but this overexposure just makes me wonder what else I could be watching instead.

This isn't new. Most of us said this would be an issue since the roster essentially got small in terms of talent available for Raw. KO and Ziggler wrestled for like a month straight on Raw and Smackdown. There are probably infinite examples of what you're talking about from the 3 hour Raw era.
I don't want to see Sheamus and Cesaro wrestle ever again, let alone a best of 7. They're trying to Booker T and Chris Benoit them. It's not going to work. That kind of thing isn't special in 2016 the way it was in 1997.
Reigns. Reigns. AND MORE Reigns. Nobody cares. Give him the title. We all knew that was coming the second he started this feud. That's why I really don't care is because I know the outcome.
I'm with you 100% on all of this. Raw was a disaster last night. Demon Balor being the biggest of the mistakes. WWE doesn't know how to stop tripping over their own feet imo.
SummerSlam should still be amazing though. We have AJ vs Cena again. We have Balor vs Rollins, which is a coin flip on who will win and should easily be amazing. Ambrose vs Ziggler is the best feud on WWE TV right now imo. We're getting Brock vs Orton after years of waiting. The Sasha vs Charlotte rematch should also deliver. Maybe the key is to just stop watching weekly TV and only catch the PPVs. I'm personally starting to lean that way.

That's one of the main reasons why I dislike the brand split. Two small rosters means the same guys fighting. No one wants to see 7 matches between Cesaro and Sheamus and as for Reigns and Rusev well that was a mistake imo. If they're meant to fight at Summerslam why should the fans care about the match if we saw it last night?
Demon Balor surprised me because it was a surprise lol. It's only ever used as a ticket seller and draw for PPV's so it was weird and cool they had him show up unadvertised.

I really thought that this thread was gonna be, "Anyone else having this problem??" followed by "I constantly fall asleep while watching WWE wrestling now because of how bad it's gotten."

They kept saying Rollins was gonna call out the Demon, so it was pretty obvious. I feel like they could actually get away with the rosters the way they are and not constantly repeating matches. They can be more creative. I really thought that this thread was gonna be, "Anyone else having this problem??" followed by "I constantly fall asleep while watching WWE wrestling now because of how bad it's gotten." Funny enough I do always fall asleep for like a solid 20 minutes. It's a struggle.

Guys, the brand split just happened. Give them some time. I'm not complaining about the brand split. In fact I said you can tell they're trying to figure things out and I can't complain about that. Giving away the PPV on tv has nothing to do with the brand split. It's just lazy booking. It's like that old saying "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?" The brand split is zero excuse for having a close to 20 minute Reigns vs Rusev match when they have a match scheduled 6 days away. They are actively making me less excited to see the show when I've already seen most of the show.

This has increasingly been a problem in WWE since about 2009 and it got worse with three hour Raws. As the quality of the performances has in many ways improved, wrestling matches have been overused, overlong and overexposed. They make great matches seem boring and stale because we have seen them over and over. That's why Brock Lesnar is special, because he's not doing the match on Raw the week before the PPV.

Hmm. I kinda feel like Brock Lesnar does the same match every time he gets in the ring. Suplex, suplex, takes a little offense, suplex, takes a finisher, kicks out, suplex, F5, victory. It's not every week, that's for sure, but I feel like I know what to expect. (Of course, he's still a freak of nature that might bring in more fans, so maybe that's enough.) Few people here are harder on WWE than I as but I think that they could have something incredible here. We'll see.

Brock has lost some appeal to me too, but in general, his appearances/matches are still much bigger attractions than anyone who wrestles 20 minute matches all the time on TV. Same for Rock, Undertaker, or a Shane or Triple H (or even Stephanie) match.

Creatively the shows are starting to feel a little bit different. Smackdown seems to be booked as a more straight forward wrestling program whereas RAW is beginning feel more like an entertainment focused show. This past weeks RAW was brutal and felt like any other episode we have seen for the past 5-6 years. Plus the 3 hours are extremely tough to get through while I personally find a 2 hour episode of Smackdown to fly by.
