I love basics just as much as elites haha It's probably because you can't break them as easy lol

My 6 year old son has about 50 elites and 3 basics and the only figure he has ever broken is a basic undertaker because it wouldn't bend like the others. I watched him do it, it was funny. I would be so angry with him if it was one of the elites. He knows that and that's why he didn't care and broke it right in front of my face lol

I added a white elbow pad to this and its possibly my favourite basic. SS Heritage Duggan also really impressed me. In my opinion there is still only one basic who is actually better than the Elite - Tensai.

I just learned about this gem. I dare to say this is the best Taker head scan/sculpt ever. Unfotunately it seems it's impossible to find.

You're missing out if you only collect elites. Some basics don't ever get elites for example Sid Justice, Sting won neon green attire, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and a bunch of others. I don't particularly care for the joints of the elites as I don't pose them dynamically just standing. I do like that elites come with more accessories but sometimes elites are a dud acdwsory wise.

Funny thing is that I picked up all these for less then a price of a battle pack over the last month. My kid already has two cenas and will have more. Plus I plan on getting the bunny soon.

Honestly if they have an elite version skip the basic, just get divas, managers and announcers, the rest skip

So as I've just started collecting Mattel's a few months back, I was going to just collect Elite's. Then I started to find basics that I really like so I started picking them up too. Especially at retail. Seth Rollins was one I wanted to MITB Elite for. Too hard to find, too expensive online, so I just grabbed a basic. No harm no foul. Here's a few others I picked up because I actually think they're pretty killer figs:
Hideo Itami Enzo & Cass BP The Bushwackers Sami Zayn Paul Heyman Baron Corbin Honky Tonk Man Paul Orndorff Hulk Hogan (Wrestlemania 2)
Keep in mind this was after I basically said I don't want any basics. Now some of them are terrible, but there are a lot of awesome basics to be found on the cheap out there.

I'm a big Elite collector, but I do have a few Basics to go with the Elites. They are...
- Shawn Michaels (Series 14, Royal Rumble '95 attire) - Bret Hart (Series 14, Royal Rumble '88 attire) - Steve Austin (Series 29, jeans and Austin 3:16 shirt) - Randy Savage (Superstar Entrances Series, Walmart Exclusive, jeans and purple shirt) - Ultimate Warrior (Champions Series, Kmart Exclusive) - Brie Bella (Series 48) - Nikki Bella (Series 52) - The Bella Twins Battle Pack (green attires)
I had a bunch of other Divas from the Basic series, but I recently decided to list those for sale. Username is frantik2k3 on the Bay if anyone is interested.

Just wanted to share that I bought my first Basic figure and it's Royal Rumble Heritage Rey Mysterio (with the red attire and EG armbands he used when he won RR06).
Funny thing is nobody here recommended this figure, but RR06 was a defining moment for Rey and I felt I had to get it.
I must say I am very pleased with it. E15 was my only Rey figure and I must say I preffer this basic one.
One thing that helps is the package. since it is an early figure it has a much better package than the later ones. Loved it.
Elites will still be my priority, but now I know some basics are really worth it.
Thanks and keep your recommendations if you have any left.

If I had time to play with my figures, I'd actually prefer basics all the way. The articulation seems a bit too much with elites, unless it's a guy like RVD, who I need to throw kicks with... Back to the topic at hand, I would choose Macho Man series 26, Ric Flair series 48, Sting series 62 (incredible paint combo), Exclusive Mankind (of course!), Warrior series 56, Steamboat series 45, Iron Sheik series 59, Mr. Perfect series 37, Bret Hart series 49, Sid series 53, and my favorites are Chris Jericho BAF and Entrance Greats (Need more long haired Jerichos in any form!!).
