I absolutely couldn't believe it at the time and it continues to puzzle me. It's exactly what they did to Ryder and exactly what they tried with Bryan. Punk Ryder Bryan Ryback Nobody can argue the wm29 turn and build up. Believable.

I was never the biggest Ryback fan, but I do believe he got a raw deal while he was white hot in late 2012- early 2013. Like he said, the booking of putting Mark Henry over Ryback at Mania was one of the dumbest WTF moments Ive ever had watching a live show. Also in the same regard, a lot of the decision making in 2013 made for some severe head scratching moments. — Ryback is one of your most over guys as a face in the company and you turn him heel only to have John Cena bury him continuously, with no real plan for his character afterwards. Shortsighted in my opinion. — Cody Rhodes gets on a big roll as a face singles wrestler after Money in the Bank, so the plan is to put him with Goldust, label him once again as only a tag team wrestler, and ultimately have them lose to the Outlaws, who are over a decade past their prime. — The Miz was on a big roll in late 2012- early 2013 as a face. They proceeded to do absolutely nothing with him in 2013, except losing to Curtis Axel constantly, who IMO was completely undeserving of his push in 2013. Thankfully Miz recovered and is on the biggest roll of his career at the moment. — The Shield, probably your biggest pushed new stars in 2013, are booked to lose a 3 on 1 handicap match to Punk. — RVD, probably your biggest returning star of the year, is booked in a prematch show the first PPV back from his return at Summerslam. — Dolph Ziggler, has arguably the biggest moment of the year on Raw winning the World Title. He gets a concussion from a sloppy Jack Swagger, and he is punished for it losing the World Title back to Bland Rio. The guy should have been shot to the moon for the incredible work he had put in from 2010-2013. — The Wyatts come in as a fresh act from NXT and immediately have nothing to do after 1 month in. Clearly that has not changed much in the last 3 years. Instead 2013 was meant to put over Cenas multiple title reigns, Randy Orton, Triple H, and guys like Big Show, Mark Henry, Kane, etc... While continuously screwing over guys like Daniel Bryan Yeah 2013 had its moments but for the most part, was a terrible year with every up and coming star getting pushed to the side.

I stopped reading after he talked about his business ventures. Good on him for doing things outside of the ring while utilizing the Ryback brand. Smart man. I hope he succeeds.

You can look up and down the roster, and figure out who the backstage kiss-ass / suck-ups are. So I do believe what he is saying.

I wasn't even a huge fan of his at the time, but it was mind boggling how they obviously sabotaged his momentum. He was well on his way to replacing Cena as the top baby face especially for the young kids. They took away everything that was marketable about him and gave him a backstage bully gimmick. It made no sense.

This will keep happening. More and more guys will get frustrated with WWE, and more and more of them will leave. Punk sort of set the precedent with "I'm going home" and now Cody and Ryback have also done the same. This isn't the WWE of five years ago where there was nothing else if you leave.

Good read. I honestly thought they would put the belt on ryback a few years ago. Unfortunate that he didn't get that opportunity.

I don't like the guy but reading some of that makes me upset.
Same stuff Punk said about selling tons of merchandise. Has there ever been such a crapty way to run a business? Number 1 goal- make as much money as possible. Why wouldn't you want as many top guys as you could have? Why just lame ass Cena? Why kill anything else that is better or getting close to be huge. Makes no sense from a business standpoint at all.

It's funny that, given how publicized Punk's disdain for Ryback became, they're actually quite similar in terms of issues with the company.

I believe it all. It doesn't seem to me like he ever intends to go back, so why shouldn't he be 100% honest?
The WWE dropped the ball with him. End of story.

Not the biggest Ryback fan but he has a point. In late 2012 and 2013 he was one of the hottest acts in the company and was over and yet he lost every big time or even meaningful match up he had and turned heel to just job out to Cena. The WWE had the chance to make a new long term main eventer during that time period with Ryback but decided to just throw it all away.

This is just another in a long line of failed stars that WWE outright sabotaged in favor of John Cena. And the company wonders why they haven't made any real stars since the Attitude Era. All stars get fed to Cena. WWE couldn't do this sort of thing if they had any real competition out there. They don't, so it continues and will continue indefinitely.
