I think everyone here has given great advice, but I would also have a chat with your doctor about it. Nothing crazy, just mention you feel like you have some BO challenges at times. Hopefully they will be able to communicate with you about this openly and make sure it isn't part of a larger problem that may need help, etc. Not even in a bad way, man. Just in a healthy way. Don't take the entire thing to heart. It's embarrassing, but it's over. Multiple work outfits, washing up, and see if your doctor has any recommendations. That's it!

There are some people at my workplace who smell like they havent taken a ing shower in 13 years. Why dont you buy some Axe bodyspray? Its only $3-5 a can. I do. I couldn't have worn more Linx if I tried.
I think the problem was my clothing anyway. Body Spray doesn't fix that, no matter how much you put on the clothing. I admit I haven't washed them cause I only used it for a few hours a day. Lesson learned. I'm gonna shower twice a day now and wear anti-persparant and aftershave (not body spray), as well as wash the clothes every day.
I didn't go in today cause I was just embarrassed about the whole thing. I suppose theres a lot of worse things that could have been said.. It was still embarrassing though. Especially as I consider myself to be a "hygenic" person. It's not like I never shower or change my clothes or something like that.
My only saving grace was that at least it was an old lady who said it to me... If it was a hot chick, I don't think I'd show my face ever again. I just hope it's never brought up again. Like I said, working in a bar can be kinda sweaty when you're lifting stock and stacking shelves, etc. I'm gonna put an effort in to smell "good" but I'd just feel terrible if she called me aside again and said the problem was still there. I wanna make sure that doesn't happen.

Been there before. Definitely not a nice subject to have brought up when it happens. It was back in 2009 when I was 17 and on a work course, I was brought aside by the 2 ladies who work there and they talked to about my body odour. Back in my teens I'll admit I was rather lazy on some days and it wasn't every day that I washed. I look back and am absolutely embarrassed by how I used to be. It certainly was an embarrassing discussion but I'm glad that it happened because it made me want to get my act together fast and I did. I'm 24 now and those days seem like a lifetime ago. After that talking to 7 years ago, it's stuck in my mind and I've taken great care of my hygiene, making sure to wash at least once per day, and usually a second time if I've had a long shift working. It'll definitely just be your clothes. We're still in the warm months, you're working for hours at a time and are obviously going to be sweating. No matter how clean you keep your body, sweaty clothes are going to stink. Wash them as soon as you get home from each shift. If you can't have them dry in time for your next shift then perhaps buy a second set of clothes for work, or just wear something else if you're allowed. Even if they say something, just explain that your other clothes are in the wash and what you're wearing was the next best thing you could find. Surely the fact that you're putting hygiene first will be more important than what your clothes look like. It's a bar after all, you don't have to be dressed to the ing nines for that sh*t. If the people there think that you do then they really ought to take the stick out of their arses. Good to hear I'm not alone. I guess I'm more embarrassed cause I think it was one of the female co-workers I was working alongside that said it. Personally, I don't believe a customer said it. I have my doubts about more than one person saying it too. Although it's possible I suppose... I think it was more of a case of one co-worker having an issue with it and the boss feeling the need to make it out as if "customers noticed" to get me to act faster.
It just makes me paranoid now cause I think everyone I ever talked to has noticed this and was too hesitant to tell me or something. I'd rather a close friend said it to me.

Are you sure it's your clothes? Your boss did specifically say body odor, and that has a VERY specific odor. You can typically tell the difference between that and smelly clothes.
What kind of deodorant do you use? Whatever it is, you might want to try something different. The best deodorants I've found are women's brands. I don't sweat through them like I do with just about every men's brands I've used. And stopping sweat is the number one job of a deodorant because sweat is what causes body odor. I think you should try a different brand and see how that works.

And whatever you do, for the love of God, DO NOT USE AXE BODY SPRAY. That nasty crap is the official scent of white trash America.

It's definitely the clothes if your hygiene is as good as you say it is. I have soccer shirts that I can wear for only a few hours even after getting straight out the shower, then they smell, which was because they had only been on a short wash, leaving a lot of the old sweat or whatever still in the armpits. I could smell it slightly before I put it on, so if you haven't been washing your clothes it's definitely has to be that.
Also I find with antiperspirants, just change then regularly as like anything your body can build up a tolerance to them before they become useless.

You might not think its a big deal because you can't smell it, because you're used to it. Remember though, if you can smell it a little bit, others can smell it A LOT. You may think you're doing everything OK, but you're just used to it and have become "smell blind" like the Fabreeze commercial says.
I would recommend talking to a Dermatologist, and then even the next time you're at Target or wherever pick up "Clinical Strength" deodorant.
Don't just use anything like Axe, that doesn't get rid of odors, it just masks it, so like Dave Attel says "it smells like lemons & ass, and nothing beats ass!"
The main thing here is, you want to find the cause of the problem and eliminate it, you don't want to cover it up. Like I said earlier, if you can smell it a little, others can smell it a lot. So if you're spraying yourself with Axe, and like I said before, you can smell it a little, others can smell it a lot, you'll just be the guy who smells like too much Axe and that's really just as bad. The key to adding scents to yourself is SUBTLETY. Cologne should only really be smelled and enjoyed by those close to you, or those you want close to you.
Another thing to do is, wash your clothes more often. If you do, perhaps you need to clean out your washing machine. There are washing machine cleaners and there are settings on all recent washing machines for a clean machine setting. You could just be washing your clothes in moldy funk water.
And for some wise Grandfatherly advice - "if it smells like cologne, leave it alone!"

Theres nothing worse than working alongside a stinker. I make sure I was my work uniform after every shift, use an antiperspirant, and Lynx / Axe. People think body spray is the same as antiperspirant and it isnt. Axe / Lynx may smell nice but it doesnt neutralise B.O. Dunno if you guys in the US have Right Guard, but thats my go to.

It wasn't my job YET. I was basically doing work experience. I would work for them for 4 weeks, and I'd get paid by someone else. So basically, I'm doing THEM the favor. I told my sister about it anyway. About how paranoid I was getting about the whole thing... She said she never smelt an odor off me and if she did, she would have certaintly mentioned it. She did say my shirt smelt a bit sweaty the other day when I went in (the day the boss talked to me) but her opinion was, you're working for her for free and for her to tell me like that was out of order. If she wanted to get me to notice, she should have said something like "Bring another shirt with you cause it can get a bit sweaty in here"... I'm inclined to agree with her. I just took the whole thing as a bit insulting and patronizing. Asking me if I shower regularly and wash my clothes, etc... I just don't think I can work for her again. There's ways to talk about things with people and for a guy like me who has serious anxiety, all this paranoia and wondering if people are talking about me behind my back can take a big toll on me. , even talking to some of these co-workers was a task in itself for me. But I felt I made an effort to come out of my comfort zone and was doing a good job. I liked the job and it's a shame that it had to end like this. I was debating about whether to go back, but I made the decision not to. I don't want to come across as "weak minded" or someone who 'went home and cried' or something like that. Like I said, I'm not employed by HER. So why would I go back and do all her dirty work for her when she's not personally paying me a penny and probably won't keep me on anyway? I think doing that would hurt my pride more than not going back. I don't need this job. If I was to go back and then in a few weeks, get told I'm not being kept on. I'd feel worse. If I just leave now, I at least have my pride. A lot of people won't agree with my decision here. But I learned a while time ago that happiness is more important than anything. My sister says if it wasn't this, it would be something else. They couldn't find a problem with the work I was doing, so it had to be a problem with ME personally.

Sounds to me like your sister is feeding into your anxiety and paranoia.

When you wash your clothes, do you dry it in a dryer or hang it to dry or leave it wet for a while before drying? Many times hanging dried clothes or clothes that sit wet for a while smell like mildew. I've smelled this on so many people and it boggles my mind how they themselves cannot smell it or maybe they just think it's an ok smell. Maybe it's just that.

Sounds to me like your sister is feeding into your anxiety and paranoia. How so? Keep in mind, none of you guys personally know me. So when I say " I don't smell", it probably sounds like denial and victimizing. If I was working full time and getting paid 400 a week or whatever, it would be a different story. But I'm only doing work experience. There's no gaurantees I'll be kept on afterwards and like I said, if I go back and don't get the job permanently, I'll be kicking myself that I went back after getting humiliated like that.

Its likely clothes. Just get more and make sure you always wear clean clothes. Also dont try to bathe in body sprays. Nothing says I dont shower like someone that hoses themselves down in body sprays. IF you were to have a BO problem all you're doing is spraying nasty crap on top of nasty crap...at the end of the day, you still smell like nasty crap. Also might check into changing deodorants. Ive had to change up from time to time because one brand will literally just stop working for me. Ill wear it for a year and then one day Ill get hot and Ill smell like garbage. Simple change of brands and Im fine again.

Work on your personal problems before quiting your job.
Otherwis, Itll just be a never ending loop with every place.
Wash your cloths. Once you can, buy alternate outfits.
Dont mask smells.
If youre in a bind, throw the clothes in the freezer over night.

My sister says if it wasn't this, it would be something else. They couldn't find a problem with the work I was doing, so it had to be a problem with ME personally. Well if it was just work experience and you weren't even getting paid for it, you have nothing to lose by not going back. You left on your terms with your dignity, it would've been far worse if you went back with your tail between your legs, only for them to have already decided that they aren't going to keep you on. them. It doesn't take 3 ing weeks to know if someone is right for a job, especially a simple ing bar job. You're going to know within a few days at the most. It sounds to me like they just wanted some free labour to lighten the workload for themselves. I've never been one to work for free, I know what my time is worth. I definitely agree with your decision because one of the things I feel strongly about is that my own happiness and mental well being is far more important than work. I've always valued my freedom and my happiness more than any job. Let's face it, most of us wouldn't be doing our jobs if we didn't have to. You haven't lost anything from not going back so now you're free to look for something better and find an employer who will actually ing pay you. You'll never have to see those people again. It's in the past, so just think of it as a lesson learned, forget about it and move on. There's no need to sweat over it(pardon the pun), it's over now.

Buy a few sets of pants, shirts and undies. Wash them when the other 2 sets are dirty.
Also, antiperspirant deodorant is a lifesaver for reals. May I suggest Degree Dry-Spray

It may be the body spray that reeks. I know a lot of people that hate that stuff. And you said you used a ton. So it may be just way overpowering.
I remember my dad told me a story about a gentleman he worked with from another country. My father would say he smelled so bad. So my father straight up asked him if he bathed. The gentleman said yes, and my father asked how?. The man would leave water in the tub, and he thought the overflow part was a drain, so he would just add a little extra water everyday. My father told him that wasn't the way to do it, and explained how. And after that no more stink.
