What with the possible closure of TNA popping up, I thought to myself the other day, why hasn't the UK ever had like a fairly big wresting promotion, considering how well wrestling does over here? Insane Championship Wrestling is probably our biggest export, would everyone agree with me when I say that 1PW would probably follow after that? But neither of these are on the popularity level of any of our transatlantic cousins, not to say that they're not good because they are. United States: - WWE

1PW? What year is it?
The UK has 3 top promotions in ICW, Progress and Rev Pro. The only difference between them and the promotions you listed, is they don't run TV. Which could all change in the next 5 years depending on how the World of Sport reboot does/direction the UK scene is going.

You have missed What Culture Pro Wrestling. I've been to the majority of their shows and know each and every time they give it their all. They have grown so rapidly having only been in business since June.

World of Sport is returning to ITV soon with JR as commentator too. May be a one off though.

I just don't think people overseas would be familiar with Progress and Rev Pro, maybe barely ICW. I say 1PW since they used to have a few DVDs etc. on American stores. Let's hope though that World of Sport does something. |

Its cultural. Same reason football doesnt make it there, no matter they do have some hardcore soccer fans. Wrestling in Europe will never be a continental phenomenom. Its too related to EUA. In Portugal we even call Wrestling, "Luta Livre Americana". Even the name has America in it.

ICW immediately came to mind. I've never even heard of 1PW and I was amazed that What Culture was an actual promotion considering what a bunch of unbearable smarks they are from the articles and videos I've seen from them.

But as he's from my neck of the woods I could probably do that for you. Might have to swap the cliff for the Tyne bridge though. |

Even the US only has one real promotion of a worthwhile size, and that country is massive. Here, there's no chance. The island is too small to sustain a big full-time touring promotion, and the Internet (and before that, cable TV) allows us easy access to loads of stuff. Even WWE couldn't fill the NEC or the Hydro or the O2 etc every two months.

I think its down to TV. If a channel took up a british wrestling promotion, then surely it could genre some interest. But then again the show has to be top notch. Normally it's poor.

WCPW is shambles, they complain about WWE booking then do the same DQ's and finishes that they complained about. Rev Pro, Progress are very good promotions. I don't know how NGW has so much publicity I think it's also terrible
