Heres an interesting question. Since RSC is largely influenced by collectors, surely it would be a better idea for Mattel to sell old school figures through them rather than worrying about such figures flopping at retail. Im talking about largely NWA/WCW/WWF figures from 70s to early 90s - especially NWA/WCW figs. If Mattel wont risk it then surely that feeds into the assumption that such figures are largely shelf warmers but yet its the collectors that would buy those figures, somewhat contradicting the reason for selling them at retail, i.e you are going to get more collectors flocking to RSE for such exclusive figures rather than at retail where they tend to attract the casual buyer. I think its an interesting question.
We know many flashbacks warm shelves (except for the big hitters like Warrior etc) which is neither good for Mattel nor retailers so why dont RSC and Mattel come together and work out some sort of model for such a collectors fan base. I myself and im guessing many others would even pay more than the current exclusive price tag, which is what $25? just so we can have the likes of the freebirds and such in our collections.
What do yous think?

I worry now that balor is the next rsc exclusive. I will pass,... but I think this will be a great seller for rsc and then they will stop wanting ones like Nash and Jericho. I don't care how I get my flashbacks honestly. But I love the Rse boxes to keep the figures moc

But what if people buy at retail? Or live outside the USA like Canada, UK, Australia, etc? I don't collect flashbacks that much, I only collect the current people. I think Finn being the RSC exclusive is sick!

Mattel tried selling a line of figures of the old guys online once. It flopped, and people on here complained about the prices and selections etc. Those were like $20 plus shipping. As Ringside Exclusives, they'd be considerably more expensive than that. And people would still complain about the prices and the selections.

You are correct, however im talking about a different time scale, rather than a few legends put out at once or however frequent it was like was the case at matty collector, how about a figure like every 6 months sold just like any other RSE?

I am all down for more old school wrestlers. How about announcers, refs, etc. I think we need more out of the ring figures.

To my knowledge no such line was ever made or sold by RSC. If your referring to the LOPW figures that were made before the Jakks Classic Series line that were not good quality and not in scale with any other line then yes those didn't sell well. And they didn't sell well because ... 1-RSC has more customers than the other site 2-No current line attached, if they came out at the time in BCA or TTL scale ther would have sold well (Ricky Steamboat BCA I'll buy a few). 3-The time frame was different - this was before all every line started making retro figures

I disagree. I think RSC should just sell more exclusives...
That way we can get more of what we want. Outside of the Frankenstein Rock, all the RSC are excellent figures. Let's bump it up to 6 exclusives a year... I agree with mostly Flashbacks, but I think Bill has a 'man crush' on Balor and Shinsuke, hence the DM and RSC. Don't think this well be the trend going forward. I also think the figure is amazing as well. Reckon I might have a man crush on Balor as well lol.

On topic I think RSC exclusives should be mixed between current and flashbacks like how it already is.

Well if that's the case the Matty figures sold well, they just didn't sell fast enough by Matty standards (and that wouldn't be an issue with RSC).
