I have Elite 42 Neville and his leg paint keeps chipping off and it's really annoying. Now I keep seeing people posting other figures with the same problem. Why does Mattel keep doing this?

To remain a billion dollar business. The figures suck and im glad even the sheep have come to realize it. I buy some of the cool elites which are fewer and far between. But it's a tough pill to take each time i buy one. I remember mattel stating they'd never have mixed skintones on figs. "Expect more".

It ruins a lot of otherwise great figures, turning must buys to easy passes. It's cheap, and it looks cheap. They aren't doing a good job matching the tones. Any figure with a singlet top that comes out now is pretty much ed.

Glad I was finally able to cut my buying off. I haven't bought a Mattel WWE figure in a stretch and it's been phenomenal. I've actually been able to focus more on stuff that I love such as NECA horror figures (Ash vs Evil Dead is a killer show and the figures are great) specifically the NOES and F13 figures. Also getting into Mafex figures. Lately trying to decide which Suicide Squad figures to get. There's going to be mafex, figuarts and dc collectibles. The only figures I will buy from this point is a Bret Hart with a decent head sculpt or Bray Wyatts.

I'm buying lesser and lesser elites as of lately. What bugs me is that once they start giving these figures the painted tones they're most likely not going to change em up and give em casted skintone. Now what's ironic is how they use the painted skintone on a $26 figure like the Wolfpac Sting. It's more expensive than a DM and yet has so many inaccuracies. I would at least expect them to go all out and give him a non black casted torso. Mines came with a blotch on his back and I had to return it. I'm hoping that the other one doesn't give me any issues.

I don't know, but it annoys me when I play with my figs, I need to use them very lightly,

They do it to save 1/1000000 of a cent during production. As funny as I thought this comment was, imagine that 1/10000000 of a cent times the minimum production run of 20,000 figures. Times THAT by the number of figures there are in a series. Then times THAT by how many series there are in a year.

To cut costs while keeping their profit high. Maximising returns is what makes them rich and one of the highest grossing toy manufacturers in the world. It cuts costs yet we pay more. Hmmm

To remain a billion dollar business. The figures suck and im glad even the sheep have come to realize it. How are people that buy these figures sheep? Is it because we still LIKE the figures and buy them? Sorry that some people don't expect Hot Toys quality from a $20 toy that was assembled and painted by some Chinese worker who hasn't hit puberty yet. If the price is a problem, just buy online, I've bought so many figs for below retail SHIPPED and if you get any you're not happy with, Don't open it and wait till you can return it for another at retail.

MattelDesignTeam something needs to be done. Surely you don't think it's ok that people have to reprint your product. It's outrageous!

I understand people say that it comes down to money, I really do, but I just have a hard time believing that black paint is so cheap for Mattel when in theory it seems like it'd be cheaper to cast things in white or something lighter and then put the darks over them. Not even thinking about attires, I feel like the skintone itself on someone like Seth Rollins might have to be applied more times so as not to let the black behind it show through. It wouldn't make sense to me to cast Seth Rollins in his White Ranger attire in black and then try to put the white over it, so it doesn't make much more sense to try and do that with the skintone colors. Why is black so cheap? I'll never know. But it feels like it'd be cheaper to cast it in a lighter color and then put the other colors over it instead of the opposite. Or does that just work for customizers?

It really s*cks because the cost is being pushed down to us in a sense. To correct figures with painted torso's, you have to find a legit figure with molded flesh to do a swap out. So, you have to buy two figures to get one good one.

You all remember jeremy.com where Jeremy Padawer would converse with the consumers to try and put out the best & most wanted product on the shelf? Now we have to wait until a convention and we get told "Here this is what you get and you get it because I liked it, not you"

Or does that just work for customizers? It depends on the amount of paint they need to use. Black is probably a color that the plastic can easily be purchased in. Trust me, someone at Mattel did the math. If it's cheaper to cast, say, Bret Hart's torso in black and just paint the skin tone parts, that's what they're going to do.
