OSFTM also made a Rodman doll around that time. That could explain why this odd 2 pack came out. The 12" doll - with interchangeable heads of which one looks like the OSFTM one - was by Street Players (a company from L.A.). It's no coincidence considering Street Players and OSFTM worked together on the making of this 2-pack. The figures seem out of place because they were not meant to be OSFTM, but rather marketed through the WCW license which belonged to OSFTM at the time. Source #1It's also been said that, though KB Toys was the first retailer to carry the Hogan/Rodman 2-pack in late August 1997, the set was actually available through the nWo catalog about a month before it was shipped to stores. Source #2It could be found at various stores and for these prices (from that same link): $8.99 - Meijer $9.97 - Hills $9.99 - KB Toys, Venture $12.99 - Spencers $14.99/15 - nWo Sales Flyer Some of the earliest reported findings of this set date back to August 24-25th, 1997. One comes from a KB Toys in Michigan (link #5 below). Source #3, Source #4 & Source #5

Holy crap there were chat sites in 1997?!?! It's called Internet Relay Chat (IRC) and still exists, newsgroups also still exist (although less used as a form of spreading newsreports today). Even in the pre-internet (as we know it) era another method were Bulletin Boards (BBS).

That pack didn't fit in with any WCW series. The figures are about 7". This is what I hated about WCW figures at this time. There were so many different scales. This set came out and they were the only ones like this. I just felt like this was an ongoing theme with WCW figs.

That Hogan head looks asian and looks like his beard connects to his eyebrows. Terrible sculpt and painting.

I remember having that Rodman doll as a kid, he'd always job out to Toybiz Spiderman and Playmates Undertaker.
I remember seeing that 2 pack back in the day at Meijer, never bought it. Back then, figs were $5 and the gigantic ring was $15, nowadays people are like," Uuuugh, gimme $60 for it because it's a collectible.".
