I think another problem with the CW division in todays product is that some of the top main event performers can do a lot of the things these guys do. AJ does flips and high flying moves. Owens can take to the air, and does CW moves occasionally. Zayn, Neville, Kofi, Crews, even Cesaro does high flying moves. Zayn-vs-Owens last night looked like more of a CW match than the 2 we saw for the actual division. It really shines an even bigger light on how much is lacking with the guys characters. You slap the unique ropes and handshakes in there, but really the premise of the CW division doesn't come across as "these are exciting high fliers". It instead comes off as "these guys are small and can only compete with each other", which isn't going to make people care all that much. Unless these guys start doing insanely dangerous spots (which still is a turn-off to some fans), they'll need to look to established stars to help anchor the whole thing. I do believe the Cruiserweight Division has a place. The reality is that not every small guy is going to be an AJ Styles-level star. A few years ago, we wanted to see our favorite Indy wrestlers show up in WWE and get big main event/upper midcard pushes. But now we're on such an Indy star overload that it's just not special anymore and you can't get pushed just on Indy street cred alone anymore. We as wrestling fans got spoiled because some of us smarks believe that just because someone isn't wrestling a Cruiserweight style match, that it means they can't wrestle period and a lot of those guys got written off in favor of newer Indy based talents as a result. Imo, WWE needs to (hire (or rehire) more heavyweights between 220 and 250 lbs. Having more somewhat bigger guys who don't do flips and stuff around would help make the Cruiserweight style special again instead of just something that everyone does.

CW should really work among other guys, not be exclusive to other CW's. No Reason we cant see Nese/Gulak Vs New Day or things of that nature.

wrestlers have noticeably got lighter over time. I remember when Matt Hardy V1 was trying to cut to 225 to compete for the cruiserweight title. Pretty sure at least half the "heavyweight" roster now is 225 or less.

They should stop changing the ropes every time they wrestle. It's really off putting.

Too bad we are likely never going to see it.

While I put absolutely no stock in what Ric Flair says anymore, I will say that Charlotte and Sasha are more compelling characters than anyone in the CW division.

Two posts that sum up the cruiserweight problem perfectly.
