Seems kinda odd but I see no reason for him to be lying.

i don't know for sure if it's the reasoning, but i don't think it was very smart to cross heenan. i don't think shane douglas is gonna be showing up on wwe tv either any time soon considering flair's relationship with triple h. heenan has a great immense amount of respect from fans and those in the business alike, and it wouldn't be hard for schiavone to have fallen out of favor for them.
anyways, in my opinion mike 'the professor' tenay deserves a spot just as much if not more than schiavone! he's been involved in wrestling in one way or another since the friggin 60s. guy never got his due imo.

I know it's often forgotten, but I enjoyed his late 80s WWF run.

Never liked him and I don't see why he'd be considered HOF material.

Schiavone's always been sorta hit or miss with me. He was the voice of WCW through the biggest boom period for wrestling. I always enjoyed him with Heenan for the most part(even though Heenan could make anyone look good) and some of the ridiculousness that always ensued when he was paired with Dusty Rhodes. But I didn't think he really clicked with anyone else on commentary.
He also seems like he's very full of himself, and always acted like he had a chip on his shoulder.
Not on my list of favorite announcer's.

Never liked him and I don't see why he'd be considered HOF material. Because he was the voice of WCW. You can not like the guy but between his time in the NWA and WCW, he had a pretty great career. I know Brain hates him but some of their commentary from the MNWs is some of the funniest dialogue of all time. Heenan hating his job and not caring made for spectacular tv.

How can one man think every Monday Nitro, Thunder and PPV is the greatest show he has ever seen?

He has been saying he would never get in for a few years. I'm not so sure he meant that he is actually blacklisted, but probably meant it more figuratively. He always speaks highly of Vince, and said his biggest mistake was going back to WCW from his time in WWF and his time working in the WWF was his best time in the business.
I grew up on Tony in the NWA and then later in WCW. Honestly, to me his voice is just as iconic as J.R. when it comes to wrestling commentators. A Hall of Fame spot is deserved for sure. I can't imagine he has the kind of heat that can't be looked past with Vince or Hunter after seeing the other fences that have been mended.

Sad. He, along with Teney, Rhodes, Heenan, Bischoff, JR and King are amongst my favorite commentators of all time, especially during the 90's/early-mid 00's. I'd love to have him back on commentary, in WWE. The garbage they have now on commentary sounds ridiculously over forced. Just awful.

Shane Douglas was on the Kliq DVD and on the Greatest Rivalries DVD and even the Mick Foley DVD. And Tony was on a lot of WCW DVDs that came out. This all seems awfully weird.
