While speaking on Conversations with the Big Guy, Ryback talked about the debut of The Nexus and revealed why the angle was ultimately dropped.
“None of us know what’s going to happen with our careers, but we know we’re going to be a faction called The Nexus. And for a lot of the WWE Universe, a lot of fans, they loved it. It was a great faction and it was underutilized.”
Ryback added, “[Wade Barrett] was the mental leader. I was the physical leader. I always kind of put it as that. Like, and I felt like that came across very well with the dynamic of the group that we had. And I felt like people got that. I felt like we both played our roles perfectly in that and that’s why, a big part of why that all worked, along with everybody else that added their [[contributions]. [Justin] Gabriel was the highflier and Gabriel was a huge part of it too, I feel and everybody was. Everybody had their role.”
According to Ryback, John Cena was the reason the angle was killed off because John did not like that eight talents were getting over naturally.
“It was not used properly mainly because of John Cena. f–king marks, that’s your headline for the f–king week. And it’s a fact across the board. Everybody knows it and he did not want that to go any further than what it was going to go passed because it was working, because it was eight guys getting over naturally. That’s why. God forbid guys get over naturally.”
Ryback continued, “that’s what happens when you get a noncompetitive athlete in the top position who’s not used to competing in real life. That’s what happens.”
Another Ryback story for y'all, enjoy lol

Nexus was white hot and should have went over at Summerslam 2010, and that's on Cena..so, can't say I entirely disagree.

I'm surprised he isn't blaming Punk.

Nobody cared at all about him, until he started stiffing the crap out of jobbers week after week. Ryback has gone even more mental... Yip yip yip. What it do?

Nexus was doomed from the day they debut. Come on how were fans suppose to care about 8 generic guys with zero character?
The faction sucked.

Nexus was doomed from the day they debut. Come on how were fans suppose to care about 8 generic guys with zero character? The faction sucked. Maybe they didn't totally suck, but agreed I never thought Nexus was a big deal. They had a hot debut then fizzled into oblivion within a few short months. The second incarnation was even more laughable and the less said about The Corre the better. I'll never understand how people look back with such fondness regarding Nexus. I guess if you didn't get to watch the heyday of some of the truly great factions back in the day, maybe people dug it just because they wanted to feel like they were watching something special. I thought the group was very forgettable and that shirt with the big yellow "N" was just hideous. Then again, poor booking can't be denied. Why take the time to build something up just to tear it down before it's complete?

Apparently we need to start an official "Ryback blames _______ for his misfortunes" thread.

If it wasn't for that pesky Cena, WrestleMania 27 could've been headlined by a Nexus eight-way implosion match -- and it would've broken buyrate records!

Dude seriously comes off as a diva. It's hard to imagine if anyone was to blame for Ryback failing, was himself. As far as the Nexus goes, no doubt it could have been handle better. I do feel like there were really too many guys. Young and Tarver were pointless. Wade was the leader, skip was the muscle, justin was physically gifted one, slater was comedic relief.

I stopped reading when he said he was a leader of the group. He was a nobody. All of them were nobodys except for Wade and Otunga who they tried to make somewhat of a big deal because of his wife.

"Mental leader"..."physical leader"...BAHAHAHAHA...Skip Sheffield was a nothing. He was a fart and he was damned lucky they hung on to him and repackaged him AT ALL.
All of these sour grapes are really leading me to believe that he was probably a problem almost all the way along and THAT is why he didn't get pushed like he "should have". Maybe somebody saw what was up and put a pin in it because they didn't want to deal with him pulling a Warrior and refusing to show up due to some diva demand one day in the future.
Seriously...Ryback NEEDS to stop talking.

*sigh* I read the thread title as "Ryback blames anybody other than himself for everything bad that has ever happened to him". Dude needs to seriously get out of his own way.

As far as I'm concerned, Nexus was doomed from the get go. Hard to imagine to goofs tripping over a beer-keg defeating the WWE's top guy a month later. Sure, their main roster debut was good, but that was it. And I've said before that had that debut been saved for someone like the Shield, it would have had twice the impact it did.

is this well now that Nexus was supposed to win at Summer Slam 2010. But Cena refused to lose.

The debut, theme song, Wade Barrett saying "IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BIGGER PICTURE" and "GET ME A GLASS OF WATER" were the only good things about the Nexus.
Everything else like the fact Bryan got canned temporally, it's boring green jobber members like Tarver, awful hideous looking merch, the team changing members as time went on, The Corre and the whole angle dragging on into 2011 just blew.

I stopped reading when he called himself one of the leaders. He got injured fairly early and disappeared for a long time.
