Sorry if this is the wrong board to put this on. Wasn't really sure.
Anyway, every year my friend's brother gets a batch of vendor SDCC badges from his company. He goes to represent his job but he gives the other badges to his kids and since the booth doesn't require Much work he gives the last badge to my friend. This year my friend told me that if I can buy a ticket for myself I can chip in for the hotel and just go with them.
Pretty awesome because my friend lives across the country and we don't get to see each other a ton. I really wanna get a ticket but I'm the past I've had trouble with the SDCC system.
I know for like Walker Stalker Cons, people in Facebook groups are often selling their tickets. Not scalping, just selling for face value. Usually if they end up having to cancel or like two people in a group of friends are able to get tickets for the whole group and they need to sell off the excess.
Does anyone know if people are able to do this with SDCC tickets? I know they're really tight about the tickets. I already have all my IDs and everything set up but I just don't trust my luck.

SDCC is literally the hardest badge to purchase on planet Earth.
ridiculous
Badges are not transferable, but I've known people to give their badges to others and they just walk in with their friends' badge.

I've managed to get SDCC badges my first try and went to SDCC, so it's not entirely impossible you just gotta get up early and start within a second tickets are available. And you can buy badges off people but you gotta make sure they have it in hand, if they don't have it I wouldn't buy it cuz you'll need to show I.D. to pick up your badge. Once you have a SDCC badge in hand you can just walk right in no problem, workers there don't have time to check everyone the only thing they'll be looking for is if the correct day/date is on your badge.

Three years ago when I tried I was so annoyed because of that waiting room. I got in the waiting room the second it opened and waited for two hours. Then sale time comes and they tell me I've been randomly assigned a place in line. They say it's to be fair to everyone which is crap. First come first serve should mean just that. Not you could come a minute before the waiting room closes and possibly get first in line. Good suggestion on the buying a badge in hand thing though. Do you know how far in advance badges are shipped?

I've been there with two, sometimes 3, computers with three separate ID's and have been SOL. It's virtually a lottery at this point.

Do you know how far in advance badges are shipped? Yeah I went in 2013 so of course it is different now. The best bet to get tickets is to get a couple of friends and try to get tickets at once, if one of you guys get first in line that person can then buy tickets for you and others, they'll just need your username and name. And I totally agree it should be first come first serve and not picked randomly, it's not the lottery for crying out loud. Getting a hotel is just as bad from what I heard. And you can't really get your badges shipped to you, you'll have to be there in person to pick them up. That's why I say if someone is selling their SDCC badge make sure they have it in hand cuz then you can just walk right in no problem.

If I was able to buy off someone I'd still need to book a flight.

So yeah your best bet is still try and get a badge yourself or meet up with someone at SDCC.

Thanks. I'm trying to get my brother to make sure he signs up so he can try to buy me a ticket too.

Good luck to you. It's really fun if you're lucky enough to attend. I will also say that there are a lot of fun things around the even in the Gaslamp District. San Diego is absolutely beaming that time.

San Diego is absolutely beaming that time. Thanks. Honestly though I probably wouldn't care enough to go if my friend wasn't going. We don't get to see each other a ton living on opposite ends of the country and when she goes to SDCC she doesn't really take any other summer trips. So it would be tough to see each other if I don't go.
