So it all started as I was walking around the track to end my workout. There was another guy walking the opposite direction. I would look at him thinking he looked familiar, honestly thinking he looked like Dolph Ziggler. We passed each other again and I had the same thought. But I just chalked it up to coincidence. Another blonde musclehead. Dopplegangerism is on the rise.
But then I got into the locker room, saw the Dolph Ziggler looking guy was wearing an NWO shirt. Then saw a guy that looked just like the Miz and remembered that WWE is in my hometown for the weekend.
I walked up as politely as I could and asked "The Miz and Dolph Ziggler?" Pointing, probably in retrospect kinda rude. And yeah it was the Miz. I went to shake his and said "I just want to say hi then I'll get out of your way". While going to shake his hand he gave me some weird side hand shake thing, but whatever. I didn't have anything for an autograph. Didn't want to be annoying or ask for a selfie. Honestly, didn't want to get in his way. So just weirdly shook his hand and walked away. Didn't know what else to do. Didn't even say my name. Literally said hi then walked out of the building. And as I was walking out, a girl and one of the gym attendants were talking about WWE guys being at the gym. So I told them the above story. About halfway through I realized that the girl might have been Maryse, but I didn't say anything. Once again, didn't want to be weird.
Honestly started fangirling a lil. Felt like it took my sister forever to pick me up because I wanted to tell someone what happened!!
Dolph Ziggler is shorter than I thought he would be. I knew the Miz was tall, but he was a lot taller than I thought.

That's a very awkward meeting you had there. It sounds like you were starstruck

^I was a little starstruck yes. But at the same time I was trying not to be annoying or anything. I knew that even though they were at the gym, not at the arena or ring, they were still on the job in a way. Once again, I just didn't want to be annoying or get in his way. Didn't want to be one of those people.

You were dressed when you walked up to him right? Cause that might explain the weird look & lack of eye contact he gave you.

^ Yes I was dressed. Even had changed into a dry shirt before all of that happened. Thinking back on earlier, what I am finding funny is how I kept running into Dolph Ziggler and didn't know it was him - the few times on the track and then after that in the locker room. Literally, I'd walk somewhere and there he was in my path.

Maybe it's a thing with Dolph. I was once walking next to him in the parking garage at MSG and it took me a while to recognize him. We were literally like 3 feet apart. I was digging in my pocket for my parking ticket, he was checking his phone. Finally my brother was like "How do you not notice who is walking right next to you?" Then I look over and a body guard just jumps between me and Dolph and just stares. So I just slowed down so Dolph would just walk ahead even though he seemed totally oblivious to the body guard.
What makes the story even better was once I got into the garage a group of people saw Teddy Long putting his bag in his trunk. Someone called out to him and he just yelled "Holla! Holla!" and did his little dance real quick.

It reminds me of what Kevin Nash said, a wrestler should make you turn your head, they should look like wrestlers, they should be people that you pass and even if you dont know they are a wrestler you would still say, thats someone important. WWE aint go no superstars, apart from Brock and a few others thats what their problem has been for so long now.

You should've walked up to and Dolph and wished him good luck in the rumble and then walked away and maybe he would've called you back for a little chat. I've heard he's a nice guy.

He's a very nice guy. I met him in October 2014 at a Meet & Greet. Never had the opportunity to meet a wrestler outside of that capacity, although my parents have told me that when I was 2 or 3 years old, we pulled up at a set of traffic lights beside Hulk Hogan while we were on vacation in Florida. Not sure if I believe them, but if it's true, that'd be pretty cool.

I mean, maybe the locker room wasn't the best place to do that and that's why they thought it was weird lol. Miz probably gave you an offputting hand shake because you're at the gym and he has no idea of that hand is or was just soaked in sweat lol

Literally the worst thing you can do is talk to a wrestler while at the gym. Nobody goes to your job to talk to you. I spent part of last Sunday standing guard around some of the guys who worked the indies who are part of the Raw roster now because people kept wanting pictures while these guys are working out. Let them be, if they are free, say thanks maybe shake a hand. But they are on duty, being in shape is a part of the gig. This is what they are paid to do. In the future, no photos or autographs, they hate it.

Let them be, if they are free, say thanks maybe shake a hand. But they are on duty, being in shape is a part of the gig. That is honestly what I did. I said hi, tried to shake his hand, and then walked away. It wasn't while he was working out. In fact, looking back I remember seeing him working out and didn't recognize him. I never go to the gym on a saturday and thought it was just some dude. We were both fully clothed and he was just sitting there. Didn't ask for an autograph or picture. I knew better. Its crazy how the comments went from "cool story" to "you f'n douche, why did you f'n do that". I haven't ever really met a celebrity, much less one of my favorite wrestlers, someone I would actually watch for. So I have gone from exited to feeling like an f'n douche about the whole situation. "Nobody goes to your job to talk to you." This made me want to ask if you ever participated in the American workforce, but then you talked about your job.

Just a word of advice, don't try shaking hands in the locker room. Probably has something to do with him shaking your hand in a weird way.

^Maybe. Like I said, I didn't even recognize it was any of them till I was leaving. Thinking back, I remember seeing a tall dude all in black working out that I had never seen at the gym before. But once again it was saturday, don't know that crowd. Plus I am extremely near sighted. SO unless I am expressly looking for someone/something, I won't see it. IT wasn't until I remembered WWE was in town this last weekend that everything clicked. As much as I kept running into Dolph Ziggler, I wish I had said something to him now.
And your right, savage. In retrospect, no shaking hand would have been better. The polite society stuff just kicked in.

I've heard stories of people (read: morons) getting expletives yelled at them at the gym by face main eventers in this company because they approached them whilst working out. It's just the way it goes.
Don't worry about it dude... they probably just thought you were dripping in sweat in the locker room. It's one of the worst places to meet wrestlers because they are generally in/have been in the zone and don't like to be bothered there. Cool that you met him and I doubt he thinks you were being a jerk or anything.
