Not sure if anyone else here uses them, but it's pretty crazy to think that hundreds of thousands (millions?) of individual boards will close after 25+ years. There really is no other place on the internet like it, where you have individual boards for films, cast, and crew members. It's not life shattering, but it's kind of a bummer.

Why would they close it?? I know if I check out a movie, TV show or even an actor or actress, I will look at the message board topics about said subject and read what people are/were saying.

That's pretty wild. I go on there frequently to see what people say about shows and news (like Shameless was resigned).

That place has the biggest collection of vile trolls I have ever seen. I have blocked so many people there over the years, and I don't even go there that often.
On the one hand, having a place to discuss movies and tv shows is cool, but on the other hand, it seems to bring out the worst in humanity.

Bummer, I like going on those boards after I see a movie or watch an episode of a TV show. Sucks.

I would love an official statement on this.. Curious as to why after all these years this is happening.

I love the IMDB boards because they are so biased. There's always certainly a heated debate. Plus the posts don't count towards anything like other message boards

I do the same thing as most of you. Watch a movie then see what people say about it. You're guaranteed to see one person in every movie's board saying that it was the worst film ever. Even if it was actually really good there'll still be someone saying it.

I like to look at those boards when I have a question about some aspect of a movie that went over my head. Usually there's someone else asking the same question.

I'm sure there will be other forums but that seems a little overkill. Even though I don't care about other people's opinions on movies, it's still good for perspective and a laugh.

Such a stupid decision. Like most, I go on there when watching random movies to see what people thought. Or if I need to find something out, guaranteed someone will have an answer there.

Same reason many places are shutting down comments sections and forums. People are awful and more people are actually interested in trolling or arguing than having an actual discussion these days.

I don't think anything of value will be lost. This. The biggest thing that bugs me today are people needing opinions or reviews before they watch/buy/experience something. Everything from TV shows and movies to cars, cellphones, products, vacation spots, cities, etc.. are all subjective. Movie A may only speak to a certain audience. Relying on someones personal opionion on something can be helpful sure, buts it can be very poisonous. Look right here at WFIGS for that example. Wrestling today is in the crapter is a statement thats been uttered here since day one. But, its entertaining. Mid 2000's was crap on here, but its funny how now people beg for figures from that era. Its the same thing with IMBD. They trash the DC Cinematic Universe. Its actually really entertaining if you don't read those cancerous posts. I do feel bad that positive critics/fans can no longer converse there. But there are plenty of forums/groups where those conversations can continue.
