Does anyone know what the individual name of these figures are or what series they came from? I believe these were released in the late 80's or early 90's. There was about six to eight fictional characters from a made up wrestling federation and they were all made of rubber but weren't bendable like the WWF Bend-Ems. I have a vague memory of seeing these in stores but never buying them. If I remember right, they were all a type of current wrestler from that time period. An Iron Sheik type character, Abdulla The Butcher character, etc . . . Thanks in advance for anyone who can point me in the right direction!

Thank you! You just made a vague memory come to life. Is that your collection? Were there eight characters made in total?

The IWA Star Studded Wrestling bendies set was made in 1985 by Diamond Toymakers (also made the Schwarzenegger Commando figs). Killer Klondike (the blonde guy) had a variant without red lips. There's also a ring (10" x 10"), my loose ones: left to right: Major Disaster, Russian Wolf, Bulgarian Blimp, Kamikaze, King Kongo and Killer Klondike.

I should have added the names to the others in my photos. In the last photo. they are:
The Kamikaze, Suicide Sheik, Russian Wolf and King Kongo.
Ruby is right about the variant, but I was going by the number of characters, so there would be 9 to collect.

I never knew they made a ring. These guys are great. I love the idea of a fictional wrestling promotion with the over the top 80's gimmicks, complete with wrestler bios telling you about them and who they tag with. I'd love to see this return but I doubt it would sell well.

I'm pretty sure "The Bulgarian Blimp" figure is based on a mold of the "Fist Of North Star" character "Heart": Interesting to note, Heart was actually based on Abdullah The Butcher. I wouldn't be surprised if other figures from this line were based on the North Star anime as well.

While Bulgarian Blimp might be inspired by Abdullah the Butcher or Heart, I doubt he's based on a mold; these bendies are from 1985, I don't think there were any Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken) figures at that time. They're probably just based on popular '80s wrestling gimmicks; every fed had a military character, a sheik, a communist, a savage and an american patriot. Throw in a lunatic, a sumo and some (post-apocalyptic) warrior and whammo that's a nice generic wrestling set.

With a little bit of snooping around on Yahoo auctions, I came across some Fist of North Star keshi erasers that might be the original molds used for these figures which dates back to the Anime's creation in 1983: The only thing missing really is Heart's shoulder spikes. I believe the Beret wearing commandos in the back look nearly identical to Major Disaster and the bearded fellow on the right may be linked to Killer Klondike. I may be wrong, but I believe these Keshi were also made by Bandai.

Found bagged pictures of these erasers; they're by Popy.
