Why would someone want to punch their favorite wrestler? Makes no sense to me.
I guess maybe someone could use it as a pillow but it would be hard to relax with it talking every time you moved.
Also why spend money on a wrestling buddy of a wrestler you hate? I'd rather buy figures or shirts of the wrestlers I like rather than punching a stuffed pillow. Though I kinda wonder how many folks on the internet would have fun punching a Roman Reigns brawlin' buddy.

This is from a blurb I found about the 1980's Wrestling Buddies:

I just wrestle my 7 year old.
He wrestles with a 36" stuffed Elmo. He does all the moves on it it's hilarious. I feel like that Elmo is way better than a wrestling buddy

I had a Hulk Hogan Wrestling Buddy and loved it. I used to wrestle with it and sleep with it. More than anything though they're just stylized merch for kids.

Wrestling a Hulk Hogan wrestling buddy saved my little sister years of wrestling moves being performed on her.

Just a cool thing to play around with. I used to slam mine all over the place. Could also be a decrotive pillow too

You just described me to a T with the deformed figs, vinyls, and wrestling buddies. I like the odd stuff. But then again I am a bit of an oddity myself.... *cue Oddities theme VPV

I can only speak from the original run of wrestling buddies, as I was a kid back then. I grew up as an only child, so I was constantly getting yelled at for wrestling with my Moms good couch pillows and crap like that. So when the Wrestling Buddies came out, I had no problem convincing my parents to get me one. After all, it was saving the proverbial lives of their couch pillows!

What's not to understand? Small kids like to pretend and when they want to pretend wrestler, why not use a Wrestling Buddy instead of hurting themselves against their friends or something else? It doesn't matter if it's their favorite wrestler or not, they want to play. It's very simple.

I never cared about them, though I ended up owning the Warrior and still have him in my parents' garage.
My grandmother made me a lifesize (to me as an 8 year old) wrestling doll that was actually like wrestling the hollowed out corpse of another 8 years old. I spent many an hour pretending to be Brutus Beefcake, then eventually changing my persona to Randy Savage, while pretending that my wrestling doll was whoever I wanted to punch at school.

I had them as a kid and would wrestle on the trampoline with them.

What do you mean by that? I think he means it's why you humped your pillows, because you didn't have a wrestling buddy like he did. Just conjecture.

I didn't have a wrestling buddy, but I did use to apply the camel clutch to my brother, so that's pretty much the same.
