I believe another big selling point back in the day for these figures were the sheer size of them (24"); which towered over a lot of action figures at the time.
Plus, their cartoonish charm and use of colors really made the Wrestling Buddies line stand out in toy aisles. For a lot of kids, the Wrestling Buddies were the closest thing to meeting their favorite real-life Wrestlers.

Did the same to my sister, plus figure four and indian deathlock... imagine my surprise that those moves actually hurt! I could never get the figure four on my brother. He just wouldn't cooperate. When I worked with kids, I liked to apply the dragon sleeper. There was a rude, trash talking sixth grader who learned respect really quickly! That move is effective. My boss's kids liked me to give them the sharpshooter and other submission holds. I used to pick kids up like I was going to give them the Razor's Edge, without actually dropping them to the ground. Cuz I ain't crazy. But, come to think of it, I DO have a Hurricane Plush Buddy in my closet! I loved the Hurricane. I will give him a beating later tonight, for old times' sake.

Try a running knee drop across the top of the head or an elbow drop to the groin first to soften them up.

My cousin and I used to have pillow fights with them, and we'd beat the heck out of each other.

It was a way to teach kids how to beat up midgets. They were discontinued when the National Association for the Advancement of Little People started a boycott. Damn Lollipop Guild.

I bought the old Hogan and Warrior buddies for myself since I missed out as a kid. Then when my nephew was born he adored playing with them since they were colorful, BODYSLAM! I've caught my dad using it to rest his head.
Multiple purposes.

True story. I, very slowly put my sister in the figure four while she was sleeping. Right as I locked it in I started cranking & she woke up screaming in pain. I guess it gave her a bad Charlie horse & I didn't let go for probably 10 seconds. She said that was probably the worst move I ever put her in.
