I'm not sure if anyone has ever noticed this about the Tatanka hasbro figure, but the prototype of his figure seems to include designs on the sides of his leg. These logos are quite clearly the arrow and native design you can see on the side of his white tights. His head also seems to perfectly capture the shorter, pinned back hairstyle he had during that time. Obviously conjecture on my part, but it could have been a fairly last minute change.

I actually would have liked a Tatanka in long white tights. I think they made the right call, ultimately, but still...that figure would have looked good as well.

That does kinda suck. Oh, well...

That does kinda suck. Oh, well... Yeah. Plus I always felt Tatanka had one of the worst Hasbros, considering it didn't have the loincloth it was basically missing the most key part of the attire!

not sure if I remember seeing the logos on his leg but I did always think it was odd that berzerker was pictured without the cloth outfit and hacksaws 2x4.

Tatanka was always my favorite Hasbro. Even if he didn't have the loin clothe. I though he was pretty neat. The would have been cool to see a real fabric one included.
Haha I didn't even notice that Berzerker had the 2x4 haha! I always found it a shame how there were few accessories but hey they were fun anyway.

A second Tatanka with white tights would have been great. Mattel can make one now as part of its retro line

I guess with Tatanka "being a bid deal fairly quickly", Hasbro decided to expedite his new outfit. They were usually a year behind so a white pants version would have fit with the time line. Weird they still had the designs on his bare legs but I guess they didn't know what they would be doing. Berzerker 2x4 was a tease, we probably thought we were getting a sword with the figure. The cloth vest was nice, though and Tatanka should've gotten a loin cloth even if it was just one plain color with no design.

In retrospect the white tights attire would have been awesome as he was released twice in the same attire (although I believe the purple card was a replacement for Beefcake). Still, a paint job for the re-release wouldn't have hurt

In my opinion the Hasbro Tatanka figure was a complete disaster - 1st of all, they should have gone with his original long white tights option, secondly - the released figure didn't have the blue scroll markings on his right leg (which Hasbro should have kept because it looked cool) and thirdly - when the figure was released, they didn't even give him the flappy little brown indian skirt that covers the blue pants!
could this figure have been anymore of a mess? lol

But what about the rare 2x4 carrying Berzerker!! Has this ever surfaced? The knee pads do look a little darker to the ones on the released figure. In saying that, all of the figures in the advert look a little darker so maybe it's just the picture or the fact that they were made slightly different to the regular figures. It would have been great to have a re-paint for the Series 9, Tatanka, especially the design discussed.

Other than the mold swap for HBK, I always thought the red on the tights had an orange tint. Like they were almost an orange/red color rather than standard red.

I'd love to see some of these figures in a collection now. Whether that be Rick Steiner and Doink from the Series 9 advert, or the brown attired Skinner from the Series 5 ad. I believe we've seen Razor Ramon with the more clean shaven look even MOC if I'm not mistaken? Certainly, without his moustache.
