Hey so I got a couple of platinum tickets for Summerslam today...one question though...any idea what a platinum ticket means? Ticketmaster doesn't really explain. Is there some sort of perks?

If it's Ticketmaster's "Platinum" tickets, then no, there's no perks. That's just Ticketmaster acting as their own reseller by taking good seats and marking the prices up ridiculously.

So you purchased a well over face value ticket without fully understanding what you were buying? Platinum tickets from TM are nothing more than a regular ticket. Depending on the seat location you may get a collectible chair, I think it's the first few rows of ringside and the seats near the ramp.

Live it up with Platinum Tickets and savor special bragging rights before and after the show
This is what Ticketmaster states...does this mean anything??
Reason I bought them is because I'll be flying over from the UK. Holiday all booked so to avoid disappointment I ended up shilling out $1600 for 2 seats...so expensive but not very often I get to go to the States to see a show there.

It just means you got what Ticketmaster considers a good seat. They just take regular seats (which may include a chair, depending on what the location is - but that's not a platinum perk) and charge way over face value. It's no different than buying an expensive seat from the secondary market (like StubHub), except that the ticket is coming from the box office.
