I still don't understand the appeal with these things. They are like Happy Meal Toys you pay $20 for. They're nostalgia. Back to days when action figures were more simple. Meant to just be played with and not dissected by adults whining about paint apps, headscans and cloth accessories. $10 isn't too crazy for this day and age either. I agree some of the attire and color choices aren't my favorite, but the line is a fun nod to much simpler times in the wrestling world.

I'd probably buy my favourite Wrestlers but I wouldn't collect them all.
Mattel prices are already insane.

It's been 25 years since Hasbro was making figures...a lot has changed. I think the figures do a great job capturing the spirit of the original line, and are a cool nostalgia item for adults and a fun toy for kids. At that price point, there is only so much detail we're going to get given that the figures required all new sculpting and mechanisms.
I'm pretty sure MSRP on the original Hasbro line was $5.99. Adjusted for inflation, that comes out to about $10 in 2017 dollars. Seems fair to me.

I only saw that Ringside was selling them for 20, 10 is more reasonable. I understand now, although I do think your line about them not being dissected by adults is pretty ironic considering this is a thread about the issues someone is having with them.

Ringside are selling these for double the retail price? Wtf

Well, they (RSC) had to buy them at Walmart so they do need to mark them up to make it worth their while to carry them.

I know when Hasbros first came out, toys R Us sold them for $4.99 but Kay B charged a few dollars more.

Haha, I think that speaks more for the times than anything else though. With the level of detail and higher cost of figures these days, criticism seems more justifiable across the board. They're still labeled as "action figures", but with the steep price point of some of these lines they definitely cross into that "adult collector" category. The original Hasbro line was toys made for kids to play with. Plain and simple.

Whether it is or not they are only doing it because their customers (probably overseas customers) are asking them to carry the Retro figures. Personally if I was RSC I wouldn't waste my time with them, because they are going to end up being stuck with them.

I love the new retros. I agree with your point about Kane and the belt and the undertaker without tattoos, but I still think the figs look great. It would be nice if they could up the detail slightly, but I'd like to see more color than anything else. I'm thankful for Mattel releasing these and I'll buy every single one of them because the hasbro figs were my favorite as a child. There has been a lot of talk about these on the boards lately so hopefully that means the line is doing well.

I still don't understand the appeal with these things. They are like Happy Meal Toys you pay $20 for. Well many of us don't understand the appeal of buying lady wrestling figures so to each their own. And they're $10 not $20. And with so much discussion going on about them obviously many of us like them.

There was some vital coming around on my part as far as understanding the appeal as well as my misconception about the price point. No need to condescend on women's wrestling fans.

The faces on the Mattel retro figures lack emotion or detail - unlike the Hasbro counterparts, which were very expressive. The Mattel version looks like a cheap knock-off. I think Mattel featured the right wrestlers for the line, but the execution is weak.
Someone mentioned that RSC is selling them for $20, but I don't see them on the website.

way too pricey for me. like 5.99 would be a better price, i cant do 10+ for such a cheap little toy. I think mattel is banking on the nostalgia factor, thus the price. Tiny Blind Bag toys that have no articulation are $6, in today's economy there's no way you can expect anything with any movement to be that cheap
