Hi Has anyone seen the new Mattel retro line in UK shops yet? Seem to have been online weeks ago but the shops are not showing anything.

No sign yet. I grabbed 2 Warriors from a seller on eBay for £10 each. Probably won't get them cheaper than that

Why would the UK shops get these? They are WalMart Exclusives and I am constantly reading on here how members in the UK are always upset because they don't get the exclusives that we do in the states...So why would these be any different?

I have seen a few figures in asda in the past with "Walmart exclusive" stickers on them so if they have been sold in the UK before after being exclusive to Walmart there is no reason why it shouldn't happen again

TNF are Walmart and hence Asda exclusive in the Uk. Asda dont sell many toys so we only had the first basics. For a new line Mattel have obviously said "you can only make them exclusive in the US because in the UK u suck"

I thought I'd take a look in the local TRU and Smyths in Maidstone yesterday, still no sign of any Retro's and the store staff hadn't even heard of them. There's definitely no sign of them back home (South West) so was kind of hoping for a little more joy up here.
I know they're accessible online now, but I'm really hoping to get them in store. Mattel has confirmed (a while back now) that they'll be released in the U.K. so not quite sure when that'll be now.
The wait goes on!

Update: I've just seen on the Smyths U.K. twitter account that they have no plans to stock these...

Yeah I emailed Smyths and Toys r us a few weeks back and Smyths were very helpful but said they wouldn't be stocking them. (I posted the response in another thread) Tru were less helpful and more vague in their response, but didn't sound like they are getting them in.
I reckon best bet will be Asda (eventually) and independent toy stores perhaps, and Argos could be an outside vet as they get some of the US store exclusive imaginext stuff.

It's a little disappointing to be honest, takes away the joy of getting them from your local toy store for me when you've got to search the web or hope some random shop 3 hours drive away gets a small batch in. The second series will be out in the States by the time I find a shop that stocks just a couple of these. I think you're right with Asda and Argos as our best bets now. Thanks again!

Yeah I know what you're saying, I kind of feel the same way. This line has really hit my nostalgia, I still have all my original played with hasbros, there's only 5 or so that I haven't got. So I wanted to rekindle that feeling I had as a kid seeing them in stores. But I can't wait to see who else Mattel make, think I'll likely get them all - and tell the wife they're for my son! I know the basics & elites are better quality figures and likenesses, but there's something about the cartoonish nature of hasbros/retros that great at capturing the larger than life nature of wrestling.

It's disheartening that they're so hard to get. I heard they were available at a Toymaster. I found an affiliate of theirs that I could get to and gave them a call.
"Do you have the WWE retro line?" I asked.
"Yes. We do."
"Not just WWE figures, but specifically the retro series."
Click-click-click went her keyboard. "yes" she said "they're upstairs!"
I shlubbed on the underground over to Ealing Broadway, found the store, and to my dismay sitting there on 2 pegs were some Basic John Cenas and an El Torito. Awesome.

I don't think many of the toy store employees have much background knowledge on this particular collection (in my area at least). I got a similar response when enquiring in my local Toymasters. "Yeah, we're getting them in, actually, I think we've already got them on the shelves!"... takes me to the wrong figures... I'm gonna hang in there, they've surely got to arrive at some point! Just hope they have Warrior and Undertaker from the first Series and not just the 2 that seem to be easier to find. Good luck in finding them!

I wouldn't give up hope on Smyths stocking them. There's been an abundance of times people have been told by employees that things won't be stocked (Defining Moments Undertaker springs to mind, sure there's been other stuff) and they've turned up eventually...
... although I can't say I'm privy to the ordering and receiving process. The Zombie line failed massively at Smyths (or they ordered way too many), Mutants seem to be moving at a similar pace. The most recent masks and Tough Talkers were reduced in price very quickly. This along with really poor sales in the meat and potatoes of the WWE section (Basics, Elites and Battlepacks), if I was head of Smyths buying team I'd be pretty reluctant to take a chance on another new line which would likely have to be reduced to half price

I'm not in Twitter but i do view the "wwe mattel retro" Twitter feed and there are a few people claiming the have spotted them in various department stores. I'm lucky enough to have had them sent over from the states but it would be great if we could walk in and see them in a local shop

I've got lucky with this series. I hope the other series aren't as hard to find. My gf got me cena and warrior, I found taker and brock on eBay and my buddy in Canada just got reigns and Owens for me.
I don't mind paying slightly over retail for the sheer convenience of having them delivered straight to my door. But the magic is in finding them in the shops, and I hope that happens with series 2.
