Mattel has really done a great job creating a deep roster of WWE superstars going back to the early/mid-80s. With the recent additions of Brutus Beefcake, The Warlord, and The Berzerker, it got me thinking about what are some of the biggest characters that we've yet to see produced in Mattel form. I will start with 1988 and list, in my opinion, the two biggest omissions from the WWF roster from this year. Since I only collect '88 through '98 era of characters, I'll stop there, but feel free to continue or add your own opinions. Here's what I came up with... - 1988: Bad News Brown & Koko B. Ware
- 1989: Zeus & Greg Valentine
- 1990: Dino Bravo & The Genius
- 1991: Virgil & The Mountie
- 1992: Nailz & Repo Man
- 1993: Giant Gonzalez & Ludvig Borga
- 1994: Owen Hart & Bob Backlund
- 1995: Jeff Jarrett & Mabel
- 1996: Ahmed Johnson & Marc Mero
- 1997: Ken Shamrock & The Patriot
- 1998: Dude Love & Val Venis
Several years, specifically '93, '95, and '96, were pretty tough and open for debate, but I went with the names that were closest to the main event. I did not include women in the list but the obvious big omissions there are Alundra, Sherri, Sunny, Sable, Marlena, and Chyna.

I want all those except koko and your '92+'93 selections.
Sherri is a huge omission in my eye. Also I really need a young Billy Graham but I know he doesn't fit in your timeline

I think you've covered it quite well in the way of male superstars. I'd add Sherri to any era from '90-'93 and Alundra Blayze from '94-'95. It truly baffles me as to why these two haven't been made yet. They should have had HOF figures before the Headshrinkers. If either of them don't have HOF figures by December, I call mutiny lol.
I'd really like to see some of these produced. If only that darn lawsuit wasn't active! I'm not sure the status of Ahmed Johnson but he needs a Mattel ASAP! I can't recall his last figure but I reckon it's been about 20 years. It's time!

Man, Mabel I would love to see made. Even a Viscera or Big Daddy V figure. Sadly, we'll probably never get one of him as his widow got him involved in the concussion lawsuit after he died.

Also I really need a young Billy Graham but I know he doesn't fit in your timeline There are only a couple from the OP's list I would get, but I do want both your wants. As far as the OP's list goes I would only get... 1989: Greg Valentine 1990: Dino Bravo & The Genius 1991: Virgil & The Mountie 1994: Owen Hart & Bob Backlund (rather a 70's WWWF champion version) 1997: The Patriot 1998: Dude Love & Val Venis Now as far as who I want for my collection to be considered complete I won't go by years as I am an old man now and they all seem to blend together now. So I will just go oldest to newest... Superstar Billy Graham - purple tye-dyed tights and long blond hair Bob Backlund - WWWF Champion Pedro Morals - orange and red trunks and jacket Jesse the Body Ventura - pink flower print tights Magnificent Muraco - a version in both blue and black trunks Greg the Hammer Valentine - either blue or black trunks and robe British Bulldogs - WrestleMania 2 or III Steiner Brothers - WrestleMania IX Chris Jericho - WCW Night of 1004 holds Hollywood Hogan - Starrcade '97 Triple H - hHh trunks

I can't argue with that list. It's a shame that there are only a handful of names from that list right now that could even possibly be made right now.

From 87 King Harley Race and Adrian Adonis
86 Mr T
I would probably put King Haku over Valentine for 89
90 Barbarian over Bravo
93 Steiners
94 Bastion Booger and Dink the Clown lol
95 Waylon Mercy, Skip
Other choices are pretty good that you made. Would love Zeus and a molded suit Ted Dibiase to be the next Summerslam Elite figures next year.

I know that the concussion lawsuit is a big factor in which characters WWE decides to green light in terms of Mattel character choices. With that said, I was surprised to learn some of the plaintiffs since several of them either A) have been on WWE Network programs recently or B) even had figures made. I'm talking about names like Paul Orndorff, Kamala, LOD Animal, The Berzerker, The Warlord. Obviously, I'd guess that these dudes joined the lawsuit after their work/figures were already completed but that seems real unlikely, especially for Berzerker and Warlord whose figures haven't even been released yet! I know Mattel plans about a year in advance, so I assume it's possible WWE approved thesse two characters before they joined the lawsuit but then again, Mattel has pulled back on figures/characters before for one reason or another (i.e., Cactus Jack), you'd think this would be one of those pull-backs (though I'm definitely happy they aren't!)
Anyway, of all the plaintiffs, I'd like to see figures of Ahmed Johnson and Adam Bomb the most, and a singles Marty Jannetty.

This is just more proof that Mattel has done so well with getting us a large variety of characters. Really hope they continue for the next 5-10 years at least.
