I've seen a few things online that talk about how the cardboard on action figures are just made for packaging and meant to be opened, but for those who have been collecting MOC figures (and not just WWE figures), what is the best way to ensure they last as long as possible in mint condition?
Right now, I have lots of signed MOC Elites, DMs, Battle Packs, and Basics I plan to display very soon. My thought was to put them all behind glass. But now with RSC's Defender Cases, I'm thinking of switching up that way and maybe getting some kind of grid wall to hang them all from with hooks (considering RSC starts to make more cases for older style boxes, that is). So my question is, as long as I keep them out of sunlight and in these defender cases, am I good with just that, or is it just a fact that no matter how you take care of your MOC figures, eventually they're going to deteriorate within the packages no matter what?

If had moc figs since the 90s and have had no issue with deterioration deploring etc I keep mine stacked in closet and seem fine

As said above I've had moc figures since I was a kid and all of them just as good of condition when I packed them away but if you get the cases they will be great for keeping them mint Incase they fall or anything like that they worth the money IMO .

Also use led light bulbs so the autograph does not fade

The best way is to open them!
But seriously, as there have mentioned the only truly foolproof way to keep them protected would be to have them stored away in a climate controlled area with limited moisture. Direct sunlight will fade the colors and damage autographs faster and more noticeably, but any direct or indirect exposure to uv light will damage the paper and plastic over time. This means sunlight or overhead lighting. But that exposure will take place over years or decades. Figure defenders will protect the cardboard from getting dinged, but won't protect from uv light. For that, you would need to look into archival quality or uv resistant glass.
But at the end of the day, they are toys that are made to be enjoyed. Do what works best for your display and budget.
