MY RAMBLING
According to a VERY helpful list compiled on this site over the weekend, (thank you list maker guy) Mattel have made 259 different people (I include different gimmicks as characters, this list does not). I have a one of each guy rule and have 230 Mattel WWE figures.
I was trying to get one of each wrestler ever made - then whilst bidding on Maxine, Alex Riley, David Otunga, Mason Ryan and Chris Masters over the weekend I stopped and though......WHY? Although I still watch current PPV's, Im an 80s and 90s fan.
I don't even know these guys! The most I know about them are the fact they have figures.
MY QUESTION
One Of Each? Just Your Favourites? Completionist? Divas only? Basics only? What type of collector are you?

It would easier on my wallet and more fun. That being said there are some brilliant modern figures i'd find hard to part with! So confused - I feel a change in my collecting habit is needed!

I've recently just switched to collection legends/HOF/flashbacks and I can say that I'm very pleased with the switch. Much cheaper on the wallet. I'll still be getting the hardys when they come out just because they are my all time favorites, as well as Seth Rollins and Balor but other than that, just flashbacks. With that said, I'm selling all my current roster guys if anyone is needing someone just PM me. I've got too many and want to sell them. Still have yet to update my classifieds.

If I found/find them entertaining then they will more than likely find their way into my collection. If I didn't/don't find them entertaining then they don't find their way into my collection. And with certain guys I will buy every versions them make.

I buy the ones I like, whether it be elite or basic, current or flashback/legends. I am also an MOC collector as well, but have been contemplating opening a bunch just to save room. I don't think I could open the exclusives, but the common ones and basics are definitely getting opened sooner or later. Lol

I try to get one of everybody. I get multiples of a person if, I really like the attire, they have a huge change of apperence, or I'm a fan of them.
I collect mostly elite but buy basics if, they're suited, of the women, if I really like the attire, or I don't think they'll get elites.
And my collection is totally loose besides some signed figs and a legends 1 SCSA.

There are two collections in my house both centered around wwf/wcw circa 1985-2000. One collection is loose elites for my son to play with kept in his room. The other collection is kept MOC in storage for me. I'm trying to keep both collections under 100 figures each and trying to have different attires in the two different collections. My exception is the macho man. I buy every one of his elites to keep MOC (except e23). Only one loose macho man though and that's e38.
Managing the collections has been fun and has mostly gone well. Occasionally I sell a figure off that I would prefer to replace with a better upcoming version.

Flashbacks and legends only with 1-2 small exceptions. I don't follow the list of releases but rather then names I've got to have. From there some guys like warrior and undertaker ill get multiples, others I'll get one and probably be done.
Eventually I want a display cabinet that I can split into a few eras and my ring and arena setup for a changing display. Not fussed on a lot of figures or completing the official list.

Favorites only. Personally I love characters from every era but I find it a bit insane to get people you dont know or dont like just to have them all. This is like the worst line to be a completionist with.

Ruthless Agression era to current (2017) and little WcW. I remember my older brother would watch WCW so there's that connection. and I must have every single Cesaro released, elites and basic.

First starting out i was a completionist but after acquiring over 100 figures and still not being content i have learned to collect only what YOU want, whether that be a collection of every shawn michaels, divas, or whatever

I do the only sensible thing, i buy what i like.
I will never have need for a jyd or a typhoon or an eddie Guerrero. Never.
I do have some i dont really care for, but they were gifts from my gf or either VERY cheap and i said screw it.
