I don't know why, but it seems like someone backstage really doesn't like Sami, or thinks he's a total geek. I think it's a shame because he's easily a top 5 worker in the company right now. I think he has a huge upside to be a top babyface on smackdown. But I don't think the brass sees it at all. So will he ever win the big one? Will it be a long drawn out build to where Sami wins the big one? Or does the company see him as mid-card for life?
Thoughts?

I honestly don't think so, but if it does happen it's going to mirror Christian winning the World Title imo. So it's not going to come easy and it's going to absolutely have to be the perfect set of circumstances. I think he'll always be a HHH guy though since he was one of those original NXT 5 guys. So he'll always have that tucked in his back pocket, and he's never not going to have that Mick Foley underdog quality about him.
With two titles it's totally reasonable to think he could win one or the other. I mean we could realistically be looking at Jinder Mahal as WWE Champion. That makes it hard to say it'll never happen. However, I don't think WWE views him as a World Title guy and right now he's being used like absolute dog sh*t. His character on Smackdown is painful to watch. We've yet to see him get a midcard title run. So I think we have to go one step at a time with him. It'll be a marathon, not a sprint, with Sami.

I'm sure he will. As I've said before, WWE bills him as the underdog. And you can't have a underdog that wins all the time. So expect Zayn to have a bumpy road. Expect him to stumble. The title will almost always be just out of reach. But he'll get there eventually.

lol....no. He'll get the eventual US Title run or a makeshift tag team title run.

His connection to Owens and their forever rivalry will help. I can see KO getting another run or two with the WWE/Universal belt and Zayn feuding and winning the title off him for a short reign.

If Finn Balor got to win the Universal Title then damnit Sami deserves to win it.

It's hard to say. Daniel Bryan won the WWE Undisputed Championship at WrestleMania 30....Finn Balor got the first Universal Title...Kevin Owens was the 2nd Universal Champion......Sami Zayn is on the same level as both of them, as far as coming from the indies and having a big following before getting to WWE.
I think nobody EXPECTS Sami to ever win the big one....but we never expected Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, or Finn Balor to win the big one either.
There's really know way of knowing....because for every KO, Daniel Bryan and Finn Balor, there's been a thousand other guys who came from elsewhere who never got an ounce of their pre-WWE importance recognized.
I do think it's possible, the tide is definitely shifting. In the past, guys like Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, even Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, NEVER would have been World Champions....all have been, very recently as well.
It all boils down to if WWE thinks he can draw money or be that next underdog story that fans get get behind (with their money).

Nope. Unless WWE gives is a solid Owens vs Zayne battle that culminates in a ladder match. His peak was in NXT. I hate to say that...

Maybe he will. The rosters aren't exactly huge with main event talent, and they're finally letting him be himself on TV. So it's definitely possible.

His chances of winning it are better now that he's on SmackDown. If he does win it, I can't see his title reign lasting long, though.

Have him beat Owens in the main event of Wrestlemania in a few years, somewhere in Canada and you'll have another major Wrestlemania moment. If WWE can get their hands on some tape libraries by then, the build could be one of the best ever.
Is it likely? No. would be it awesome? Yes.

He doesn't need to because not everyone has to be a former World champion. Piper, Dibiase etc were legendary and they never held the big one.

He's almost in that CM Punk category when Punk first came in. Ok we've got ya, super talented, but we have no clue what to do with ya.

I do. WWE always looks for a good PR story, which is why Jinder is getting a push before the tour in India. Putting the strap on a beloved guy who happens to be a Syrian Muslim would get them some positive mainstream press. Like it or not, that's how WWE operates.

If Mr Bob Backlund can win a title in 1994, then yeah why not?

I feel that Sami will find himself in a similar position to Cesaro - a great hand who can fit all over the card but will never be given the ball to run with.

Sami Zayn is the Tommy Dreamer of WWE.
Sami can lose every match he is in, he can lose every feud he is in, and the fans will still take to him and it won't hurt his spot on the card, because the WWE keeps putting him in main event matches or matches with top draws.
And this is coming from a guy who hates Sami Zayn, I can still say that the WWE isn't gonna drop the ball with him, unless they take him off TV for a while, then he is pretty much doomed.
