Let me just say that I am in no way a big fan of Finn Balor, but watching E.R. last night, I got to thinking on how WWE can have this guy become the real "superman" of WWE. Before you guys shoot me down and hit me with "its gonna be Reigns," I understand Reigns is probably Vince's next poster-boy barring any unforeseen incidents, so this idea is out there.
But lets just say for a second WWE realizes Reigns is already a top tier guy and doesn't need to have yet again another gigantic coronation in the main event of WrestleMania, and they need to build another guy to be a major face of the company......Finn Balor. The foolproof plan to making Finn an actual larger than life star is to do the "impossible," beat Lesnar.
To have this work, they have Finn earn his shot to face Lesnar at Survivor Series. It is practically a Suplex City style beatdown of Finn, where Balor gets a sliver of momentum going, but is ultimately decimated by Brock. After this Finn realizes what he did wrong and vows to win the Rumble and slay the beast. He comes out in his Demon get up and wins the Rumble from number one.
During the buildup Lesnar refuses to take him seriously and manhandles him in various RAWs during the lead-ups to WrestleMania. Finally at WrestleMania, Demon Balor comes out strong against Brock but eventually gets caught and taken to Suplex City again. Towards the end of the match Lesnar continues to toy with Balor and taunts him. Balor summons his "inner demon," and unleashes a fury and eventually beats Lesnar.
I think with this simple story of redemption and sheer will, you can build a major face of your company for years to come....without worry of backlash.

See the problem with Balor is when he's normal. He is one of the most plainest looking guys on the roster and his mic skills really aren't up to much either. The whole demon persona is the money machine and it's something Balor doesn't really do much so basically 90% of the time he's just this ordinary guy that has a side to him that everyone craves to see.
Also we already had an underdog storyline a few years ago with Bryan so doing the same with Balor would be very unoriginal and far too soon.

Balor literally just has to put on the paint and he can beat Brock, or anyone for that matter. Finn Balor is just a guy. A James Dean type in a cool jacket. In the body paint he's Symbiote Spider-man. It doesn't matter how much Brock Smash. The Demon can take him. I don't want to see Brock rag doll him, at all. I don't think that does anything for anyone at this point. I think the impact is in Balor just flat out proving the Demon can take down the Beast, and I hope that happens.
It's going to be Roman though. So yay for Superman punches.

Samoa Joe beat the Demon....does that mean he can kayfabe beat Brock? J/k though we know Brock is going to beat Joe in 2 minutes and be untouchable until WM34 when Roman Reigns slays the beast and conquers the other 1 in 23-2.

Quit making him the male version of Bayley. His heel stuff from NJPW was great. I think thats more of his comfort zone

too bad the paint takes so long to put on... I think it would be cool to see like a triple threat match with him, he gets beat down and disappears, while the other 2 wrestle in the ring.... then he returns as the Demon...

He really should work on utilizing a stiffer/more aggressive style as Demon Finn. Heck, even no-sell more. Then I think it would be an easier argument to sell.

Im egotistical so I think they should just do my Balor story from 2K16/17
It all started at SummerSlam when Sami Zayn lost once again to Kevin Owens. After Owens declares his dominance Zayn says that if he can't beat Owens he knows someone who can. Enter Finn Balor who goes on to defeat Owens at Battleground.
Zayn and Balor would go on to become tag team partners and win the tag titles at Survivor Series. One month later however they would lose the titles to the Wyatt family (Harper and Rowan). After the match Balor (in his demon paint) hit a sucker punch on Zayn. Balor then apologized and said the demon took over, but he locked the demon away. Bray Wyatt began to taunt Balor and claim that the demon is who Balor really is. He challenges Balor to a match at Royal Rumble. Balor battles Wyatt (sans demon paint) and loses.
The next month at Fastlane The Wyatt Family take on Balor (without demon paint) Zayn and Neville. The Wyatt family win. Wyatt then begins saying he may need the demons strength in order to defeat Wyatt. At Wrestlemania Bray Wyatt takes on Finn Balor in an extreme rules match. Balor finally embraces the demon and defeats Wyatt.
Then next night on Raw Stardust plays a prank on Balor which he doesn't take kindly to. At the next ppv, Balor goes way to far and takes out Stardust. Goldust then stars arguing with Neville and Zayn that Balor is too reckless. After Balor takes out Goldust Neville and Zayn confront Balor about his attitude and the demon taking over. Balor pushes both over them away and takes them on at the next couple of ppvs defeating them both.
Balor then goes on to win MITB with the help of his new friends Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson as the Bullet Club comes to the WWE. Next month at Summer Slam the club take on Zayn Neville and the WWE debut of AJ Styles. The Club ends up winning. Also at Summer Slam Randy Orton ended the dominate reign of a heel Roman Reigns and won the WWE Championship. The next night on Raw, Reigns loses his title rematch and Balor cashes in winning the WWE title.
Balor has gone on to successfully defend the title against Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, Sting, Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn and and elimination chamber with Samoa Joe, AJ Styles,Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, and John Cena . At the Royal Rumble AJ Styles almost defeated him but Neville turned heel and joined the club. I'm about 4 weeks away from Wrestlemania where Balor will take on the Royal Rumble winner Dean Ambrose.

I've never had any issue with this idea. I don't personally think it's necessary because I think it's more literal than I need as far as pro wrestling is concerned but I do think it would help his case. I'd like to see him do like a top rope Bloody Sunday or only use Prince's Throne when he's the Demon. So not even a whole moveset but just like an alternate finishing sequence from when he is James Dean Balor with the drop kick and the CdG.

Balor winning the 2018 Royal Rumble Match but as The Demon King in his Demon King paint would be the right way to go about building Balor back up again

The paint seems to be such a big deal production wise that I wish they could compromise and have him just put some face paint on which 'possesses' him making him more dangerous as the demon. Just that along with his demon wrestling attire would be fine. I honestly wouldn't mind him ditching the jester hat/dreadlock looking head gear too.

Step 1. Get 6" lifts for his boots. Step 2. Have him gain 60lbs so he looks like a heavy weight and not a reject from 205 Live.
