Every time Mattel announces a new set or I start seeing new molds come out (like the apparent recent elbow update) I think...how are they doing so much and there's no wristbands on the figures?
Hasbro, OSFTM, Toybiz, LJN...all had wristbands...why the choice to not mold wristbands or short sleeves on t-shirts?
In 2017 to be missing a mold for something more wrestlers wear than not and to not have full t-shirt molds when there are whole series of shirted figures now...especially with the quality Elite figures are supposed to be...I just don't get.
I'm still hoping they fix this but I'm starting to just give up hope.
Does this bother die hard Mattel fans? I've seen a lot of posts championing Mattels as the best, highest quality figures ever made...but I never see this mentioned.
I think the strangest part is John Cena's wrists. It's one thing to paint on some black wrist tape, but to paint on Cena's chunky, double wrist bands...on probably the most repeated characters among all the series they've released? Crazy to me.

Then they would need to make two sets of every forearm. Possibly 3 for guys who wear their tape higher. That isn't cost effective. Especially 7 years into the license. Would have been great if they did it since day one, but I don't see it happening now.

I'm fine with various lengths of wrist tape being painted on, but when it comes to stuff like actual wrist bands, gauntlets and gloves, they gotta go the sculpted route. You do see them do it every once in a while. (previous Romans, Luke Harper, that guy from the Vaudevillians) They definitely don't do it enough for current guys who get a ton of releases like Cena, Reigns & Wyatt. It's still a head scratcher when they do have a part available but don't use it...

I think wristbands should be included with the figures of wrestlers who wear them but if they don't apply, don't include them.

Head scratcher indeed. Thanks for the pic post.

I used to bother me. But then I realized that if they did that, it may cause their cost to go up and less detail may be added to the figures. At this stage, give me the extra detail. Too late to change it now.

Too late to change it now. So the Elite budget can include diorama pieces and hats and coats and the Defining Moments can have special accessories made out of different materials but the thing that'll break the bank...is wristbands. If it was just Basics, maybe (a stretched maybe), but Elite and Defining Moments and Exclusives too? No. If you can look at all the stuff added to a defining moments figure and then be like..."good thing they didn't push it with wristbands", you're nuts.

But you can't just add a piece of pastic to the wrist/forearm for tape as it would be to thick and not look like tape. So that means for every arm mold they have they would have to sculpt a second forearm with wrist tape. And in some case like Triple H who has tape run higher up his forearms there would need to be a third forearm sculpted with the higher tape. So yeah that would mess with the budget as there are how many sets of arms now? Small arms used on HBK Regular arms used on Punk/Bryan Ripped arms used on original Orton Large ripped arms used on DM Steamboat/E Ziggler's The large Triple H arms Brock's arms Big Show/Andre Arms Yoko arms Hillbilly Jim/Kozlov/Gallows/Nash arms And I am sure I am missing some, but that is nine sets of arms that would need to be resculpet with wrist tape.

It's like PJ said, it isn't cost effective to constantly make new wrist bands for people with different length tape. The examples you used were companies that made figures with less articulation and usually sculpted from scratch. The cost of articulation and still being able to be diverse with body styles is that the figures have to be modular. I'd guess close to 90% of the molds are completely compatible and swappable. Even Earthquake's arms can fit Big E's body, we're just not saying that looks good, Rhyno...
Jakks had molded tape but then made figures where they were the wrong size or even unpainted. I'll be nice and say we're "discerning" now and not just nit-pickers, but if someone had the wrong amount of wrist tape now there would be ten threads on the main page calling for Bill's head.

PJIn that case why does Owens, Neidhart, Harper, Goldust, Kane, Undertaker, Hogan, USA Luger etc etc etc have them Really? That is the simplest answer ever. They all wanted to join the NWO & DX. "Scoop of vanilla scoop of chocolate... don't waste my time."

I not about to pretend to know how the toy industry works. All I know is what Bill has come on here over the years and said. Each set has a budget. So for all we know, if they have to make specific wristbands or forearms for each figure, then they may not be able to afford the hats & coats we've grown used to. And if that's the case, I'd much rather have the hats and coats while the wristbands remain painted. Plus we're so far along in the line, I wouldn't want it changed now anyhow. It is what it is.

I wish they'd have done Cena arms with sculpted armbands and wristbands. For most of the guys I think it's fine how it is though.

This is just nit picking. In the larger scale of things it doesn't matter. If it's that big of a deal to you make the wrist tape yourself.
