Usually I just buy figures of the wrestlers I like. But every once in a while there will be a figure of a wrestler I'm not that big of a fan of that I can't pass up on. Usually because of a low price or how well it was executed. I just found the Elite Enzo Amore at Wal-Mart and upon seeing it in person I had to get it. I wasn't that big of a fan of his but now that I have this figure and like it so much I can tell that tonight on RAW I'm gonna like him more than before. Has this ever happened to you? Where the figure you get makes you like the wrestler instead of the other way around?

A figure would never change my opinion of a wrestler. What the wrestler does on TV will always dictate whether or not I buy the figure.
For example, I think the Dolph Ziggler figures are incredibly well done...but he is a loser. I am not making fun of him, but all he does is lose the majority of the time. Nothing he has ever done has impressed me nor will I remember his career. Therefore I don't buy figures of him.
That goes 1000% for Bray Wyatt. Yuck. His figures are just as boring, annoying, nonsensical as his character on TV.

This may have happened to me once. I always hated dean malenko. The figure looks remarkably like him and he fits in my collection so I picked him up. Now when I watch the network I've begun to realize how many times he held a title belt and I seemed to have overlooked that in the past due to my "blind" hate. I say blind because in college when I watched wrestling I remember going to play a drinking game whenever malenko wrestled because we thought he was boring to watch. I still don't love him, but I guess I can say I have a little more respect for him now lol

A good figure won't change my opinion of a wrestler but it will cause me to buy the figure even I'm not a fan of the wrestler. The Sin Cara elite in the striped black/green attire was too good to pass up when I saw it on the shelves. Same thing for the Enzo elite, which also led to me buying the rather plain jane looking Big Case elite too so I would have the team.
There is a limit though as no matter how good the Ascension elites look, I'm not paying elite prices for a jobber tag team. I mean, there are times I look at my collection and question whether I really needed to buy the basics so I know I would be kicking myself if I bought the elites.

Never did I start liking a wrestler because of a figure but the figures I played with as a kid did help familiarize myself with certain wrestlers. I was a WWF guy and rarely watched any other promotion other than the local CWA/USWA. I hated the LJN wrestlers and refused to play with them because they were heavy and had no articulation. So I chose to play with Remco AWA. Most of the wrestlers produced I never heard of. But forced me to seek out and watch AWA matches allowing me to know who The Fabulous Ones, Rick Martel, Curt Hennig, Nick Bockwinkel, etc were.

Not to mention the head for the last one was really bad.

Nope. I don't buy a figure of someone I don't like unless he is in a BP with someone I do like. Then usually that figure eventually becomes a parts figure.

None that changed me, but plenty that remind me of why it when I liked them. That word life cena is one that will get me to buy a cena as I loved the rap gimmick when he had it.

I'm not a big Roman Reigns fan, but his attires look really cool, so I tend to pick a figure of him up if it's cheap. The red or blue attires are really nice. I began to tolerate him more because of that. Still think he's overpushed though...

I just bought the new Zack Ryder basic because that gear and figure are awesome. Not that I'm not a Ryder fan, I just only collect Aj, Seth, and Finn for current guys so he doesn't really fit on my shelf.

Wasn't a figure but back when I was in college playing the first WCW game (the one that the engine would go on to become No Mercy) forget the name. I was Hollywood , the champion, and wrestled against Steven Regal, I had never lost a match to the computer but for some reason I lost that match and Regal became the champion. That made me a fan of Regal for some reason, I think it was because it always made me pull for him to became champion in the real world.

what a timely topic. This very thing has happened to me quite recently.
I bought a Tatanka figure during the last sale because someone said he had ball joint hips (which he does) that I could easily pop off to get blue trunks for another figure. When I got the figure in-hand I was actually quite impressed with the detail and deco, the colours popped big for me.
Now I remember Chris Chavis when he was in his rookie year, never thought much of him or the Tatanka gimmick. But this figure made me re-watch a lot of his matches in WWE and watched his shoot interview. I'm actually now quite a fan of the gimmick/wrestler thanks to the figure.

A lot of figures do that for me. In fact, most of the new stuff I buy is before I know much about the wrestler. I just like the figures a lot. It reminds me of getting a G.I. Joe I'd never heard of and then watching the cartoon just hoping he'd be in that episode.

Yes -- Cesaro. A few years back someone bought my kid a Big Show and Rey Mysterio figure and that started his collection. I wasn't about to just dive right in to a new hobby and pay an exorbitant amount of money without testing the waters so I took him to a local flea market with hopes of finding these Mattel?(Mattel makes these figures now? What happened to JAKKS?) figures that may be loose. And that's when I met Cesaro. Not really...I just saw an elite Cesaro figure NIB and told my kid he can have this one if he wants and a couple other loose ones, too. Something about that Cesaro called out to me. So I bought him. I introduced my son to what is affectionately known as a battle royal and I had Cesaro win it. A week later, dude wins the Andre Battle Royal at Wrestlemania. He's been a favorite of mine ever since.

Yeah tons. Marty Janetty's solo Hasbro figure was pretty cool, makes you want to turn on a couple of his post-Rockers matches.

They had killer matches together for both mid card titles.
