Hey guys, now that I'm on a mission to complete some older sets and break out my older figures I thought I'd ask for him help with cleaning/restoring figures. I've read some older posts and find most recommend the Magic Eraser. Wondering if people still find that the best to clean scuff marks, etc. Is there any difference in using that on Hasbros vs. LJNs? Any recommendations for each? I get that I need to be careful on non skin-tone parts on both hasbros and LJNs. I had some really good success last night cleaning some old Hasbros but realize I have to be careful because the colored pain can come off as well. Anything else to recommend? I also plan on snagging up some old WCW Galoobs/LJN knockoffs, would the Magic Eraser be the best for those too? One other follow-up -- after cleaning an old Andre Hasbro last night, I tried using a black sharpie to fill in the missing black spots on the figure and it actually looks phenomenal. I don't plan on trying any other colors, but so many of these Hasbros use a lot of black and that seems doable to clean up. Do you guys use a sharpie or paint or whatever to clean up black parts/boots/etc.? Any recommendations there would also be appreciated!

I really would avoid using any sort of felt tip pen on the figures, as the black can turn purple - making it stick out like a sore thumb.
Something I have used in the past to remove scuff marks from Hasbro/Galoob figures is a white eraser. Just rub over the scuff mark, and in a lot of cases it will remove it.

Help please! I've been cleaning some old LJN figures today. First by soaking them in some warm water with dish detergent, then using the magic eraser to get rid of some scuff marks. They look amazing now, but problem -- they're super sticky afterwards! What am I doing wrong? Detergent? Magic eraser? Should I let them air dry or towel dry? I really don't want to ruin these, but they also look so much better ...

It does make them sticky and oxygenated. try rubbing with Dettol etc, or rubbing alcohol to remove the stickyness that's the trouble with LJN figures becoming sticky over time.

I'm now starting to wonder if it's more about the new batch of 5 figures that I got in the mail today, though they didn't seem super sticky when I got them. Because I did the same exact protocol over the last several days with some of my personal LJN's (along with hasbros and WCW LJN knockoffs) and they didn't get worse from it.

Ciggy smoke also makes them very sticky too keep the sticky ones way from others.

I have a cleaning supply kit.
You have to have different supplies for different parts of the figures if you want to do a really good job.
Like you can you something very lightly with a bit of bleach in it on anything white, acetone on unpainted parts, etc.
Plus you need different things to clean different parts, cotton swabs, wipes, alcohol, sprays, etc.
I've gotten really into toy cleaning the last few years but it's not easy and there are a lot of mistakes to easily make.
If you are thinking of fixing any messed up logos...water decals might work.
