While looking at Hasbro stuff on a big auction site recently. I kept seeing these things called WWF Sliders from 1999/attitude era. I just assumed it was sellers sticking the Hasbro name onto some Jakks items to boost searches like they do so often.
Come to look closer at one this morning and the Hasbro logo is on the back of the cards?!
What's the story on Hasbro having anything to do with the WWF in 99'? I thought it was really weird these wouldn't have been by Jakks, not really tratitional action figures like Jakks was making, but I just thought it was very odd to see Hasbro on something in 1999.

Not really, different licenses for different products.
Jakks still make WWE stuff not just not the action figures.
WWE are masters of not putting eggs in one basket and merchandising. Most other companies would do well to look at what and how they do it. They maximise every revenue stream.

In the Hasbro era, LJN wasn't completely out of the picture; they made WWF videogames. In the Jakks era, Hasbro made Sliders; basically a game. In the Mattel era, Jakks still makes figures.
