It just doesn't make sense. Other than his promo on RAW (or was it 205 Live?), there were no reports or indicators of his departure coming.
Health related? Returning to ROH/the independent circuit? NJPW, now that they're coming to the states? Very interesting. Either way, I hate it.

I don't think I watched a single match of his. Oh well. Shame. Him and Neville during the WrestleMania 33 Kickoff was MOTN, in my opinion. Aries is an excellent talent. Hoping he doesn't retire, like he's said numerous times before.

In the decade or more of watching Aries, I've never really been a fan of the guy. He was a solid hand though and one of the only guys genuinely over in the CW division. Definitely came as a surprise

He was the only thing that made 205 Live interesting besides Neville. Oh well, better buy up those Elites, boys.

That NXT elite value just skyrocketed.

Hard to believe they couldn't find a fit somewhere for him. A return back to NXT in a feud with Roode would of been good for him and NXT. Him and Roode have a lot of history. Smackdown! US title division needs bodies. And he was one of the few guys somewhat over in the CW division.
From what I've understood with his past and interviews, he reminds me a little of CM Punk in that if he seems like he's unhappy with his direction he splits. I can respect that.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but Aries had no business beating Neville. Neville is making that title right now, and if there's any hope of the title surviving he needs to keep it for a bit longer, until like Survivor Series. Aries was made already, Neville is MVP of the year in my opinion, but after how terribly he had been booked since being called up this run is building both Neville and the CW title. Aries didn't need it. I actually saw Aries moving on to the midcard title after losing to Neville, but the suits must've had different ideas.

I don't think Aries minded putting Neville over. It was too early to take the title off Neville, and the Aries feud completely legitimized Neville.
Aries got to wrestle in WWE for a year and a half, make some money. That's a bucket list thing. But the WWE schedule is demanding, Aries isn't getting younger, and he can probably make similar money on the Indies.

Neville is the absolute shiz and the only thing that gives cruiserweight's on RAW any legitimacy. Division is treated as a joke and he carries it to a higher level than it has any business being IMO

I really wish he wasn't brought up as a Cruiser but even in NXT it never felt like he really had a place in the company. When he was a heel for a bit in NXT it was the closest he got to finding his role but it just evaporated when he became part of 205. Oh well, hope for another stint in ROH or on Impact.
