How many of you remember clipping the flag points off the boards and boxes of all your GI Joe toys, and then sending them in along with a check to cover shipping and handling to get new GI Joes?
I would love to see this idea brought back into toy lines, especially the Mattel WWE line since that's what I collect the most. I know they did something similar with the Vince and Triple H suited figures and I think Mankind was going to be the next one. I think with those you send in the UPC proofs of purchase.
It could be 1 point for a basic figure, 2 points per Elite and Battle Pack, 3 points for a basic ring, 4 or more points for something bigger, such as an entrance stage, large scale ring, or other playset. Then Mattel could offer a new mail away figure or two every season. To keep costs low, it could be repaints of people who have a lot of different attires ( Styles, Macho, Warrior, HBK, Edge, etc). Or it would be another way to release more obscure characters, similar to how they've released Shockmaster and Isaac Yankem as SDCC exclusives.

I wouldn't mind it. MOC collectors would have a fit.

I wouldn't mind it. MOC collectors would have a fit. That's true. I may be wrong, but I think they gave an option to buy the figure without points too. If so, that would give them a way to get the exclusives without having to cut the boxes and boards. I love it I remember doing this with gijoes. I was obsessed Me too. My brother and I would both get GI Joes and put all our points together. A few years ago we were going through some stuff at the house and found a little bag full of points that we never got around to using. But I remember that's how I got Sgt Slaughter, Cobra Commander, Tomax and Xamot, Jinx, Quick Kick, Ninja Viper, and many other figures.

I remember I got a bunch of figures out of that mail away Vince because my mom cut the bottoms wrong so she bought me a bunch of the Legends figures to make up for it and to do it right

I don't care for the Mailaway format. Mattel already does this with the annual Kmart Hot Wheels Collector Day exclusive car. It's a huge pain in the butt. You need to buy 20 cars you don't need send in the UPC's and receipt and you get your exclusive car.

I did it for the mail away vince and thought it was cool. Come to think of it the BAF line is their way to make extra money off something similar to the mail away figs.
