(In Vince McMahon voice) AND WE'RE GOING TO CALL HIM... RRRRYYYYYYFFRRRRROOOOONNNNTTTTTT!!!!!!
Superstars don't have last names. It's what makes them not pro wrestlers.

I really don't like the single names. I mean sure it worked for Kane and The Undertaker for example but I thought we were in the reality era? I know Elias Samson isn't his REAL name but a full name seems more credible when announcing your champion. Gosh I miss Michael Buffers long winded introductions =\
I see this as a way to make it hard for superstars to incorporate part of the name if they work somewhere else.

In all honesty, I'm not going to lose sleep over this. We all know his full name no matter what the ring announcer says.

These days Bret Hart would be Bret & Shawn Michaels would just be Shawn.

I don't really see how people can say WWE doesn't use last names anymore. Chris Jericho Kevin Owens Dean Ambrose Seth Rollins Bray Wyatt AJ styles Roman Harper Brock lesnar Just off the Top of my head Plus most of the cruiserweights

Should've gone with Samson instead. This guy is dead in the water.

Doesn't surprise me in the least. The Drifter Elias Samson rolled off the tounge so well. And Samson as in man of great strength. It had some good meaning to it also. Of course they had to kill it lol....the only thing good about this is that just calling him The Drifter Elias makes him sound more mysterious and like one of those creepy false prophets.

Once again, Vince is right. WWE fans can't keep more than a few facts in their heads at any given time.
Go to wikipedia and look at the WWE personnel roster. The vast majority wrestle under something that's akin to two names. But seriously, when you have guys wrestling under obvious nicknames like Big Cass, The Miz, and R-Truth...who gives two hugs if people are using their "last name" as a wrestler?
You want a list of people who wrestle straight up with one name?
Cesaro Goldust Rusev Konnor Viktor Kalisto Rhyno Sheamus Neville Bayley Emma Paige Fandango Carmella Lana Naomi Natalya Tamina
That's it.

We'll all get used to it, I mean how weird do these sound now? Big E Langston Alexander Rusev Antonio Cesaro Adrian Neville i see your point....but look at all those guys....they use their LAST names....not their first names. what if Adrian Neville was just called "Adrian"....it just doesn't sound right. In life a lot of people in groups of friends will refer to their friends by their last names, plus you can easily make up a last name and sound it cool. It's the fact that they are gonna just start calling him Elias. It just doesn't sound right.....and not in the way of "eh, we'll get used to it" yes, "Cesaro" was weird at first, but again, you can have Cesaro without Antonio....what if he was just called Antonio? and then in Samson's case....if they dropped Elias and called him Samson it wouldn't even make sense. This is just a case of them doing something completely pointless. There was zero need to change the guy's name. It's foolish and it's not even good.
