Honestly I couldnt tell you the difference in their attires from now to Attitude Era. If Im buying the Dudleys I want their ECW Tiedye look. Bubba - hair style, goatee vs beard, didn't have tattoos in attitude, wore a tshirt underneath in Attitude, elbow pads in Attitude D'Von - had less tattoos, had hair both - designs on shirt Thanks for that... I bought a second set of Dudleys to make into Flashback versions, so it's quite handy. Two things about the shirts though - wouldn't Bubba's shirt pass for an earlier/Flashback version? And what would you recommend for D-Von's? (...any decal/pic I could print off would be most appreciated!😉).

Not as good as other fix ups I've seen but happy with how my turned out. It'll do until a real Flashback ever comes out. Looks pretty good in my opinion.

But seen others paint his shirt white and use the one with the saw blade that looks really good Back logo on Bubba should look like this. Also will need sleeves. I painted mine on but E47 Big Boss Man upper arm sleeves look really good.

I guess the current ones were supposed to suffice, why we got two sets of glasses, one modern and one retro.

It was the same mistake with Hogan. Too many bad assumptions on Mattel's part. In Hogan's case, neither Mattel or WWE would had guessed that Hulk's racist pillow talk would go public and ruin his brand. They, like everyone else, assumed he was going to be drama free for years to come after returning to WWE. This is true, but still a mistake. Not all mistakes are easily foreseen, but why Mattel chose to produce multiple 'modern day' Hogans and the American Made version before a Hulk Rules version or nWo Hollywood Hogan was a poor decision. Once that PR disaster with Hogan occurred, you'd think Mattel would've learned from this mistake and be sure to produce the most popular versions of talents that they secured to a contract ASAP. In the case of the Dudleys, that didn't happen. Please don't misread what I'm saying either or (mis)read into it, I completely understand and agree with Mattel producing the modern-day Dudleys first. Children are their primary demo here and the current-day Dudleys were most likely to sell more than any past incarnation. I'm just saying that I think Mattel could've squeezed in the ultra-popular Attitude Era Dudleys while they had their rights, but they didn't. In my opinion, that makes Mattel open to criticism here. I'm not even someone who wanted or would have purchased flashback Dudley Boys but I can appreciate the complaints from the fans who do want them.

They want to maximize profits.
If people are excited about X getting a figure, Mattel is banking on them purchasing X-1, whatever attire that may be. Down the line, X-2, X-3, etc. will come X-F, the Favorite everyone wants. At that point, again, Mattel is banking on you buying that one, thereby at the very least doubling their profits off those who bought a prior release.
They did the same with their Ghostbusters line a few years ago, releasing slime-covered and lab coat variants before clean attires, gorging you on secondary and tertiary purchases before completing a set of any of them.
After all, you can sheer a sheep many times but only kill it once.

I don't think its justified to criticize them without knowing all the facts. I don't watch the current product but for those who do- was their departure planned (i.e. they only signed a short term deal) or did they leave rather abruptly?! Its possible Mattel thought they would be around a bit longer and thus they would have time to release Attitude Era flashbacks?!
A bigger issue here is that Mattel takes so long to release figures of new, first time in the line guys. Goldberg came and went and they have yet to release a figure of him (except the one that comes with a ring, not sure if that is out yet though?). I can't believe they did not even release a current Goldberg basic while he was still on TV?! They have been making figures for over 7 years now and with the technology of today it should not take months and months to release a figure of a new guy.

Idk to be honest.. they did the same with RVD. We've been wanting him for years (especially the tiger singlet) and we got one elite and a bunch of basics. They didn't even mold the trunks on him either or paint the black under gear. With Goldberg they're using him as a cash cow to get people to buy their new elite scaled ring. So pretty much all of us who want a Goldberg will have to wait till after 2017.

You say I shouldn't criticize Mattel without knowing all the facts and then you proceed to criticize Mattel. No I don't know all Mattel/WWE facts but neither do you. Why is your criticism "allowed" while mine is not? Furthermore, it's Mattel's job to understand the details of the talent contracts they work with so they can plan their lineup. If they "didn't know", that's on Mattel and opens them up to even more criticism than I gave in my original post (which really wasn't much and, in fact, I agreed with their decision to release modern day Dudley's first).

I hope mattel give us some flashback Hardy's. I still don't get why the elites weren't flashbacks.

The Goldberg's would have sold like hot cakes for sure and people might see the new ring in a better light if they didn't just see it as Goldberg's accessory. The way mattel have went about it seems a bit dishonest to me. But I guess all business's are.

Not enough Jeff Hardy and Kurt Angle figures moving forward either. No Razor Ramon or Surfer Sting in future lineups.
