I don't understand this budget thing. Couldn't Bill have scrapped the zombie/monster line and kept normal basic articulation? Surely all these new parts can't be cheap.

That's not how it works. If we didn't tool these at all the articulation on basic would still have changed. If you don't like a line like this it does not mean you are getting 'screwed' out of articulation on basic or elite figures. The development on these lines is completely separate.
Articulation on basics has changed going forward for reasons that have nothing to do with us doing WWE Monsters figures. If you don't like WWE figures that are a little more fantasy based (Zombies, Monsters) I get it. Like or dislike them on their own merits please.

Can you address that?

Bill, there is just no getting through to the blind and ignorant on these boards. They see and say what they want to, not reality.
But the new basic articulation is kinda troubling, at first glance.

Who here works for Mattel and knows about this imaginary budget for figure lines that no one else can substantiate? Mattel can do whatever they want and just because X happens doesn't Y takes a hit. I am sure some of you are going to quote me and complain about the new placement of the articulation on the basic figures that the majority of you claim you hate or write "PASS" whenever its a topic on here but it's irrelevant. None of you know what you are talking about when it comes to their budget and none of you seem to understand even the simplest of part of economics. Do me a favor google where plastic comes from and then tell me why Mattel makes small adjusts to keep the costs consistent so all you don't have something else to complain about.
It's nice that Mattel takes in to consideration what a small contribution of their revenue thinks...even when some of you batter them with ignorance and they don't want to come back on this forum. But Mattel and WWE are interested in making money and not pleasing the unobtainable request of a few miserable people. You don't like the figures stop buying them and get a life that isn't surrounded by craping on the WWE and/or Mattel. It's almost as if some of you think being negative about something comes of as more intelligent...it doesn't.
Can't wait to see some of you quote me and jibber jabber about how Mattel is cheapening out and then proclaim your outrage like they owe you anything. Save your energy.

I am sorry you guys at Mattel have to deal with they miserable people on here. There are many people on here and out in the WWE universe who love your work. I am one of them. I love your figures and all your efforts. Unfortunately the majority of wrestling fans in general love being negative and pretending like they have even the smallest ideas of what goes into what they see on TV. This trickles down into everything else that has to do with WWE. You guys have perfected the wrestling action figure. And the same people on here that complain all the time will still buy your product.

I don't understand this budget thing. Couldn't Bill have scrapped the zombie/monster line and kept normal basic articulation? Surely all these new parts can't be cheap. Since no one (MDT included) has explained things very clearly, I will try to give you a clear explanation of the situation in a calm and civilized manner (instead of hurling insults and speaking in a derogatory manner like other members on here love to do). The costs of some (or all?) of the materials used in the production of these figures have increased and in order for the budget to remain at the same level as it used to be (when the quality was higher), Mattel needs to raise prices. Unfortunately, they cannot raise prices because retailers have balked at raising the prices they charge because these figures would become even more expensive then they already are and they would likely have a hard time selling more product if the price was increased. As a result, Mattel is forced to keep the price the same and to compensate for the increase in their costs they are making cuts (changes in articulation, removing accessories from battle packs, more plastic accessories with elites instead of cloth, making figures with less deco and so on). The end result is that (IMO) an increasing amount of collectors are getting out as they are not happy with the decline in quality but that doesn't appear to be an issue for Mattel because their primary market is kids (and fans of the current product) and they are still buying these figures even with all the cuts that have been made to the product. Regarding these gimmick lines (monsters, mutants, zombies), those are considered by Mattel as being separate products, each one with its own separate budget. Now you may be thinking what I am thinking, namely that if they have money to launch new gimmick lines then they surely have money to invest in the main elite and basic lines to keep the budget at the same level as it used to be. However, as a big toy conglomerate whose main goal is to make as much money as possible while spending as little as possible, Mattel won't invest any more money as that would cut into their profits and making even $1 less is something corporations won't stand for. The 'extra' cost is borne by us (the customer) via a price increase but as I outlined above that is not possible so we end up where we are now with a decline in quality and many disgruntled collectors.
