It is a simple autograph but the way he signs it makes it look cool and genuine

It will be sweet irony (I think that's the appropriate wording) when these guys who cant be bothered or give the stone face in fan pictures (Ambrose, Rollins, Sasha etc...) are doing the independent shows. They will have to rely on gimmick table money if the promoter does not sell enough tickets to be able to pay them. They will be dependent on fans wanting autographs and just maybe those will be the same fans who had negative experiences with the wrestlers during their time with WWE.

This just reminded me of something funny last year. I was in line to meet the Headbangers. Gilberg hopped in front of me in line to say hi. Gilberg took a selfie with them and Thrasher was like "I bet that picture is gonna be on your gimmick table in five minutes."

That's a funny exchanged between the guys. The gimmick tables is what makes or breaks a wrestler sometimes, going to a show. The big conventions are generally good for a pay off (unless it's one promoter in over his head with too many bookings) while the indy shows, the guys usually rely on the gimmick table money if the promoter doesn't sell enough tickets.

Idk if Rollins or Ambrose will have that problem? But I do lose a lot of respect with it comes to this. It comes down to caring and putting in a nanogram of effort. It's disrespectful to the fans who spend HOURS in line and driving to be dismissed with a lazy auto...

I agree that in a paid setting, I would expect a better quality autograph. However, do you really want a different autograph than the one they normally give out? I dont. I want a couple full Ambrose and Rollins and they look weird. The bulk of my collection from them are from the shortened version. Why would I want something that doesnt even resemble their auto anymore? Now if you want to talk lazy autographs...CM Punk comes to mind. That dude has 6 letters in his name and in PAID settings he is giving off crappy autos. Ive gotten FAR better ones from him at the AP or hotel.

I would almost expect a better autograph if you meet them in a 1 on 1 setting. Especially if you're he only one. They can take their time give the auto and move on. How lazy would you get if you had to sit there for 2 hours scribbling your name? It's tedious and after a while just gets boring. You are paying to meet the guy as much as you are for getting an autograph. I love nice autographs but I also u deratand doing enough of them would be needed for short hand autos.

The reason you got better autos at the airport or their hotel is because they were newer at the time and still signed a decent auto. Today, it doesn't matter where it is, it will be garbage, especially in Rollins' case. Also, the fact that there are more people like you at airports and their hotels is the reason they sign so much more, and why it has become common for them to simplify the signature.

The signed NXT poster I got at a live event in August, 95% of the autos were just their initials.

Weird thought just occurred to me. Do you think whether or not someone is wearing glasses ever plays into it? Just from personal experience I can say my signature changes depending on whether or not I'm wearing glasses. If I am, the signature is fairly neat. If not, it's basically first initial, squiggly line, second initial, squiggly line.

Yeah but Punk was doing WWs. I got him at both places and the WW auto was awful. Also, like I said.....I prefer Rollins new auto over his old one or even his Tyler Black. While there are less letters....its easier to read. His old Rollins was a massive scribble. How cna you say Rollins is the worst when Roman is just RR and Dean is DA. Rollins is SRoll

I sign a lot of checks at my job and while my signature is close most times some days I literally can't be bothered and just scribble it so I can't be mad at these guys.

Rollins is SRoll I expect absolutely zero from Reigns because he's a garbage performer, and his sig looks like a 2nd grader practicing their letter R's. You can also tell Reigns doesn't give a damn about the industry. Ambrose's sig fits his character well, being careless/reckless, and also matches his logo, too. Rollins is the purest wrestler out of the three, and it's sad to see his sig degrade over the time he's been popular. Balor is another who had a distinguished sig, but now is just like five narrow loops with no style to it. As far as wanting an autograph, I don't care how prototypical it is because I don't get autographs to sell them. If I know I got them in person, then I know who signed it. I have done it before where I've asked the wrestler to sign a certain way. If I meet Rollins, I would ask for his full autograph.

I think you are completely wrong, so we are clearly on different pages. As far as their "characters" playing a role in their signature....thats absolutely irrelevant. You think Ambrose is changing his auto if he was to enter into a Genius like gimmick? I dont get autos to sell them either. But I like to keep my autos consistent. I have both Rollins autos and I prefer his current day auto.

I still don't care personally, because again to me it's about remembering the experience, but I vaguely remember a few years ago Howard Stern was giving his staff crap on air about the quality of autographs they gave to fans. He went on a whole rant about how if you agree to give out an autograph, you should take the time to make it clear and legible. He then went on to talk about the time he spent like 12 hours at a store signing 25,000 copies of his book.
Funny thing just happened to me at NYCC. I got a picture for both Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill to sign. It's got Batman and Joker's faces side by side and split down the middle. For some reason Kevin Conroy signed on the Joker side. Mark Hamill then wasn't sure where to sign so he signed on the Batman side and drew a big arrow pointing to Joker. I love it.
