I just can't trust their choices anymore. Even when we get flashbacks they pick some pretty dumb ones. (Wild Samoans, berzerker, etc) I even skipped the entire hof4 due to lack of interest in those selections. The original legends line and two packs were horrible choices and/or bad attire choices, sorry PJ but most people buying these aren't your age. They won't have a successful flashbacks line under this Mattel brain trust. Wait what?! Are you saying I am old!?! Well I never! HOW DARE YOU!!’

I really want one, but I'm tired of wishing for one, reality of the situation is, people are spending more on modern stuff, but it's not like NOBODY is buying flashbacks either, so idk...
Bill did say Gene was part of an assortment he couldn't talk about, so maybe the future is bright for us octogenarians after all? I think they'll save that reveal for RSF, I feel like Gene and Macho will probably either be part of a new line, or a pair of retailer exclusives like the upcoming Amazon Y2J and SCSA.

Legends only buyers (or those who skew heavily in that direction) are but a drop in the bucket. We won't be catered to anytime soon, nor am I arguing we should be.

Yes. I mean, it worked for Jakks, right?

We ALL liked the lost legends wave? Lol. An all flashback line won't work. There would be to many choices on the shelf at one time. And sadly they just don't sell that great anymore. I would love a flashback line but I just don't see it happening. 4 figs a set^^^

I kind of wish they would so we could get flashbacks quicker. I just feel like we'll be limited to certain figures and Mattel doesn't want to sign legends to individual contracts.

Personally this is what I want, I’m just not expecting it.
I could see something like it doing well if it was strictly RSC exclusives. But it’s not something I see Mattel doing at this point. Which is why my figure collecting has shifted from all Mattel, to recollecting the LJN and Hasbro stuff of my youth.

definitely not. most flashbacks mattel do are exact copies of jakks figures. i want figures of wrestlers that don’t have 4+ figures already. the world doesn’t need another Macho Man or Hogan or Flair. flashbacks are part of the reason it took almost two years for a WM 32 elite charlotte. a turning point in wrestling that lays the framework for future generations of women. here’s to more first time in the line non flashback figures.

If they did like it like they do with the PPV elites I think it could possibly work. Do like 2 or 3 elites a handful of times only a year. Maybe 3 figures and one set per quarter

Sadly, I think this is a dead horse that we’ve beaten far into the ground. Just an opinion, but it appears over the past 2 years that Bill and company have tried to incorporate more legends into different series that aren’t their own to satisfy us, the minority, and I don’t believe sales have shown his bosses that a stand alone set would be worth trying a second time. maybe tyhats the problem. legends was too early to start (esp with the 2nd depression at the time) and now they are spread out amongst to many lines and the distribution issues. just a 4 fig set 4 times a year like i posted above.

Out of interest did every figure from the Legends line shelf warm?
I wasn’t collecting back then and I don’t think the UK got them
But when people say the line failed was that for every figure or was it like how the elites work now with 1 or 2 figs shelf warming in each series?

This is coming from a huge fan of old school wrestling and an avid collector of Flashbacks:
Nope. Not now.
Between the concussion lawsuit and the amount of figures that Mattel has already released, there just are not enough viable names to support an ongoing Flashback-only line.

Yes, warmed hard. I was able to get a lot of Legends figures clearance price for about $5 at Target such as Rock, SCSA, Macho, ETC. Might have been even cheaper at other Targets, I can only report on what I saw.

Somehow I doubt it. My area is up to date with distribution and the legends are the ones that sell last, and they’re short packed. There are 2 Beefcakes at one Walmart, a Warlord and Berzerker at another, and a few Machos at TRU, all have been there for at least a month or more. Look at the HOF. 4 figures ONE time a year, and I can still find almost all of them locally. I think it’s time to face the sad truth: Those of us that would buy a legends series are the minority in this equation.
