Eh I don't know. I'm not sure he would get over with scripted promos. His promos from back in the day were awesome. Today he wouldn't be able to cut those types of promos because of how overproduced wwe is! Also I don't think they would allow him to put the snake over guys today.

Jake put the snake all over Ambrose a few short years ago. So I don't see that being an issue.

Well, it’s kinda tough as the booking and match layouts are different. A lot of general match spots have changed & there is so much scripting and more restrictions. I don’t think many old schoolers would enjoy it so much now.
That being said, I could see the following characters just slotting in nicely:
Roddy Piper Repo Man Mr Perfect Brutus the Barber Shane Douglas Bad News Brown The Model Rick Martel The Million Dollar Man Bam Bam Bigelow Jake the Snake

I have to disagree about Hogan. He would get booed out of buildings worse than Reigns or Cena and fans would have rooted for the other guys. Also with the internet being so involved in todays wrestling his backstage politics would be common knowledge which would completely soured the entire fanbase on him. Up until only recently, the WWE has not given a damn about how the IWC feels. If Hulk was over with Middle America and could be a mainstream figure, he would be fine. The only reason the WWE cares about the vocal internet fans is because they don't have anything else to lean on right now. John Cena was hated by the IWC and the WWE pushed him for well over 10 years at the top of the card. It's all about but the majority buys, if the WWE boomed again, they would abandon the smart marks in a second.

Roddy Piper, Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, and Ricky Steamboat IMO.

I agree with many of the names already listed in here, and one that I have to add that I hadn't seen (and I apologize if I missed him somewhere) is "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff (pre-arm injury, of course).
That cat was as tough as nails, scary strong, had amazing charisma and looked like a million bucks.
